McCoy a jacket

Re: anyone know if this is true?

Yeah, it is confirmed.

Pretty impressive list of schools that offered:Bama, FSU, LSU, Notre Dame, UNC, Miami...

Excellent!! Be prepared for the announcers to incessantly use the phrase "the real mccoy" annoyingly as they overused "the right choice" or some variant of that for Tashard Choice.

He is a STUD. Had offers from any school he wanted. This is a huge commit for us. PJ can flat out recruit.

WOW!!! That's exciting... This guy can play. Good pick up Coach!

Hmmm, let me postulate a bit. I read somewhere a concern that coach is offense oriented so maybe defensive recruiting would lag a bit and/or all the best players would be migrated to offense because that's where his focus is.

Now I am thinking, maybe the fact is defense depends more on athleticism so at someplace like Navy they could make up for their lack of physical skills (vs. typical D1 athletes) with a good system on offense but defense you can't do that so much. Now that coach is at a place where he can recruit top tier athletes it won't look like the defense is getting short shrift any more.

Anyway, I am very hoppy-cited (as Juan Gonzalez used to say) about who we are picking up so far.

McCoy's list of offers is frightening. Before 2009 recruitment ended, he already had something like 25 offers from every major program in the south. I'm shocked he isn't a 4-5 star prospect on Scout.

Me too. Quite a bit of demand for a guy that's only a 3 star. I think Rivals has it right on this guy. Wouldn't be surprised if Scout upgrades him.

yeah he is 4-star on rivals and that's an impressive offer list. I am curious, did UGA not offer Mccoy or are they looking at different kids?

McCoy is a 4* on scout he is just not listed ther currently. The top 300 players on Scout are 4*. they only have given out stars to the top 300 so far so once the rankings are expanded during the summer McCoy will get his extra star. This is just one of those screwy things that Scout does. McCoy is currently the #273 player overall.

Yeah, I'm glad that concern has not been realized. It may be true that CPJ's offense requires quality depth. So maybe the coaching staff realizing that, sees the need to have the absolute best athletes we can get on the other side of the ball--we can't afford quantity, so we NEED quality. Seems to be working our so far.

This recruiting class is shaping up to be a good one, better than last years at this rate perhaps.

Says in the article he was up to 34 offers.

Dayum.

This rocks.

Welcome to Georgia Tech! Class needed a god DT to come in - it sounds like McCoy will fit the bill.

I'd heard quite early that he had no real interest in them, so I don't think they wasted their time (or offer).
