Miami attendance

Whats the attendence supposed to be like at the miami game this thursday night. Does the fact that it's on thursday make a difference?

Thursdays typically make for good crowd, but it depends on the other teams fans and the weather, to some extent. There are a lot of Miami fans in Atlanta, but their team has been down for a few years, so its hard to know how enthusiastic they are now. The weather might be the big factor, because the temps are probably going to be in the 30's by halftime. I haven't seen any ticket sales numbers, but I'm predicting a fair number of "no shows" due to the weather. Also, the white out might be all covered up by halftime. On the bright side, the Miami players are less accustomed to this weather than the Tech players, and cold weather is tough on a passing game.

40,000 to 42,000 I predict.

I tend to agree. Thursday night games are nice earlier in the season, tougher to fill in November with temps expected to be pretty cool. It would be nice to see 45K but I just don't know if that is reasonable, maybe ticket sales will be at that level but not likely that many in the stands.

Someone else mentioned and I had also wondered if the cooler temps might help us slightly since Miami is likely to pass more?

I agree with fridgemover. It's going to be cold. Miami doesn't travel that well (especially on Thursday). And it's a Thursday, which means less turnout from the local GT fans. The upper north is going to be looking very thin.

i personally have gotten 6 extra tickets for friends for this game that i dont normally get, so i dont know. 4 of these were purchased in the last 2 weeks, and only 2 of the six are for GT folks.

so, there might be some excitement pulling in the random fan... its a CPJ thing, i hope you understand...

ive heard that extra tickets are hard to come by and that this game will most likely be packed out (48k+).

Gametime temp should be in the 30s, dropping to a low in the high 20s that night. I hope our hearty fans are ready to endure that for our PJ's warriors.

With the forecast high (as of 10:20AM today on weather.com) of 59º I doubt that the temperature will plunge into the 30's by 7:30PM. It might reach the 30's by 10:30-11:00.

According to Weather Underground, will be 47 degrees at 7 pm from a high of 54.

It doesnt matter if its 38 or 46 degrees because the liquor chill factor will have it in the mid 70's in section 104.

I just bought tickets to the game (call me lazy), and was relegated to about row 21 in the upper north

Tickets in the east and west stands were unavailable, and the north stands were getting surprisingly full.

If it is this cold, you can expect the white out to fail. Tech should just drop the whole thing in my honest opinion. I guess I'll be wearing six layers of white gold shirts, dress shirts, turtle necks, etc.

Good find, Doc. I've saved that link.

BTW, I've got two old friends who finished undergrad in '78 that are now Doc's. Are you one of them? :-)

One other factor to consider with temps: The stadium is all metal and concrete and tends to absorb heat from the sun all day. That's why it always feels like 90+ in September. Even if the air temperature is 40, the stands might feel a little warmer. Don't forget some gloves and warm hat for later in the game, though. Its hard to enjoy the game if you can't feel your hands or ears.

The stands will feel very cold. You must have not taken heat transfer. Metal does not retain heat for a long time. Heat can flow into and out of metal quickly (the definition of a conductor). My ass is going to be frozen if I sit, so I will be standing or bringing my seat cushions. I am definitely bringing a sock hat and some gloves.
