Ok time for some football again. Time to start a new winning streak and keep the streak against the U going. This is probably the turning point in the season we either go 4-3 and have a chance of turning things on, or go 3-4 and it will be tough to not think about what could have been. Hopefully the boys come out ready Saturday.

1. Guys who are out- JJ, Lonowski, McManus are definites; Bowen will be limited, Cox is banged up still, Earls will be limited, and Cord/ Smith duo will split time. Tyler Evans looks to be back to 100% now. Tashard is close.

2. I look for the offense to pick up where they left off in the 2nd half at Maryland, I think Bond will want to let loose and show up Nix some. Look for Grant in the slot more, Dwyer will get carries this week I'm told. I have no idea what happened the last two games for him to not be carrying the ball.

3. Nesbitt is scripted to play 2-3 series once again, I know it hasnt happened that way yet but thats what they plan on doing. Maybe a pass this week?

4. Could we see a new starter in the seconday? Maybe, he might not start but might end up at the end of the game being the guy in there and could start next week.

5. Hopefully Taylor picks up where he left off and Manley has some more words of wisdom for this week. Taylor and Demaryius looked in sync last week lets see if they can keep it up. Donley will more then likely be in the 3WR sets.

6. The OL is hurting, Dunmon will start and either Cord or Smith will start and split time.

7. Sabino will be at the Miami game to look at GT, after that he has a visit to Ohio State then he might go ahead and choose. He was scheduled to come for the UNC game, maybe he will like what he see's this week and that will be enough. He would be a huge get.

8. You can bet Tenuta cannot wait for this game, I wouldnt say him and Nix hated each other but they werent very fond of each other. I expect to see the QB on the ground a lot with balls thrown deep and out of bounds, similar to us last year.

9. We gotta shut down there run game, they have two talented backs, if we do that we should win. I dont see the OL for Miami keeping our D off the quarterback. This might be our most blitz heavy game of the year.

10. I think the boys are ready, the good thing about this team is they are a good group of kids and will play hard all the time. I expect to see them come out tomorrow with something to prove early. I dont think we get in a hole like Maryland and UVA this week, maybe its just positive thinking but I see us playing pretty well.

11. If the game comes down to the same as Maryland I bet we take a shot this time. What do you think?

Anyways I will be heading out for some fun in the sun in Miami tomorrow. Everyone have a great Friday and weekend!!!

Thanks for the update and your thoughts. My only fear (well, not really my only) is that Tenuta lets his anger with Nix control his playcalling and doesn't make adjustments if he needs to. I hope he doesn't outthink himself...

Thanks demjackets. We'll look forward to more reports.

This is the very speculative, ala the Clinton's belong in the White House, kind of thinking, that derails us.

Our football team must win. Screw the Canes!

Demjackets, Great post, as usual. I always look forward to your posts.

This comment piqued my interest:

I've thought the same thing for a few weeks now. It will be interesting to see what happens.

GO JACKETS!....Mike

My concern is the O line. With so many 2nd teamers i would expect that TB wil get hurried/pounded as much as Wright. Not to mention the penalty factor.

Yeah, we gotta hope that Dunmon got all his penalties out last week. He had a really rough game.

DemJackets is informative, but his heart is overpowering his exceptional intellect. This is a watershed game, no doubt about it, but it is a game we need to lose, and we will lose. In the Orange Bowl, against a team that was embarassed last week , and a team that has two year revenge working. I will do the research if need be, but I'd be willing to state that no team has beaten Miami thre years running in the last 30 years. And we are not a good team. Not a mediocre road team. Against former coaches---does anyone remember Ted Roof and Duke. We go down and we go down big. But the silver lining is we will be closer to a new coach. What would Charlie Strong do as our new head coach? Any comments?

This aint your daddy's Miami teams. They're very beatable. And why you want us to lose I'll never understand.

Funny post, I will never pull for us to lose. These kids work too hard for that. In my heart I want these kids to rebound with a win, my gut says they play well Saturday, your right not many teams beat Miami three times in a row, thats not to say we cant though. The funny thing is people say we are not a good team, actually we are a very good team who hasn't played very well between coaching and players. If we play like we are capable of we are a top 20 team. Who knows the light could come on in the Orange Bowl? I will never doubt these kids and say they "cant", that word is no-no.:laugher:

I've been looking for this ALL year and have seen little success from it. Where's our mismatches against a backer? Reverses? Receptions? ANYTHING?!!

As have I, I know with JJ out Grant will move in the slot more, hopefully they get him the ball too. He had a nice 16 yard reception in the Maryland game. I would like to see that Dwyer reverse from the Samford game again too.

I don't want Tech to lose, but if a win extends Gailey's presence in this program, it would be a hollow victory. But this is one of those games that we have no chance to win. None.

Okay, Pollyanna...keep that grin on your face. The old saying is "you are what you are". Coulda should would doesn't count. We have three wins and three losses. Therefore we are a 3-3 team, not a top 20 team. If we were 5-1 we would be a top twenty team, but we aren't so we aren't . I feel for the players, just as I felt for my classmates like Brent Cunningham, Herman Lam, Rock Perdoni, Smylie Gebhart, Jeff Ford...all great Jackets laboring under Coach Carson. Thinking they were coming to Tech to be part of Georgia Tech football, and learning that they were destined to be 4-6 while the GTAA took all the years of their careers to figure things out. It sucked for them and it sucks for our boys now. But winning a couple of games to perpetuate the present crap is something I cannot be in favor of. Sorry.

Ok, I was saying we are capable of it, this team could start playing like it at anytime.

You said we will lose and need to lose, kinda seems like you want to lose.

Anyone that wants us to lose so that Gailey gets fired needs to rethink what it means to be a fan.

I take it you are satisfied with our season thus far. You are satisfied with last years finish. You are good with the things the way they are. I am not. But please don't lecture me on what it means to be a fan. I agree we have quality young men on our team, but I don't look for them to show up Saturday. They have disengaged from this staff. They will play out the string, and like me, hope for something better in the future.
