U would certainly think that these 2 long time rivals would play more often than this even with the Miami total domination of the last 2 decades. Miami leads the series 28-25, has won 6 in a row over Fla, 7 outta 8 & 11 outta last 14. Still, these teams played every yr for like 41 straight yrs, before Fla St came into the picture. U'd reckon that the 12 gm schedule would open the door for an every yr series.
It's also very trusting of Miami to play @ the Swamp in '08 & wait 5 yrs for the return gm in Miami. They should've done a 4 gm sched in that time period /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif. The Hurricanes need this gm for attendance, whereas The Gators don't. Reminiscent of the GT-Aub series /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Mia/Fla get 2 gm series.

Just to see them playing again is somewhat remarkable.
"Bad Blood" does not come close to describing the feeling in this series, so I have been told. Something about one of the teams literally laying down on the goal line to take the fun and importance away from the other team. It was not received well!

If memory serves, it was Miami that pulled the prank.
Of course, I could be way off but there was something.
Does anyone have more details on this?

You're referring to the "Florida Flop" game in 1971, when the Gators actually laid down on the field and let the Hurricanes score a meaningless touchdown so they could get the ball back with little time left so John Reaves could get the all time passing record at Florida at the time. Trully classless, still nothing compared to the payback of biblical proportions that Spurrier teams handed out all over the SEC whenever they played someone they had lost to a year ago. Not to say the Canes are the classiest bunch around (I know I'm surrounded by them) but that play certainly sparked the fire between UF and UM.

Thanks for the explanation. Maybe I just assumed it was UM that did the lay down. Of course, UM did not have their "classy" swagger back in '71.
