Yep, that's correct. If u can play football real well u don't don't have to be qualified academically like the other students. OK, give them a chance that your daughter or my son won't be able to get to see if they can do college work in order to play football. Give them top notch advisors on what courses to take, at what times & with what professor. Give them tutors to work on teaching them every day of the week. Give them thousands of dollars worth of extra benefits that regular students don't get. I'm barely OK with that so far.
What just stabs me in the gut is that to keep them eligible, & playing ball, is that the Universities have to make up cakewalk degree programs, i.e. Recreation, in order to have them working toward a degree. The Univ then has to make up cakewalk classes, i.e. fundamentals of basketball, to have something for the players to do during the mornings. It's sick what the 'factories' do.
It doesn't mean that the Universities get better football players than schools that give the players a shot at a real degree. It just means that they have an easier time getting enough good players in school & keeping them there progressing toward a piece of paper that won't help the youngsters.:FIREdevil:
