Miss State is the IMPORTANT GAME...

the biggest flaw during Gailey AND O'leary (especially later years) was the inability to follow up a good performance WITH ANOTHER good performance.

We are 7pt favorites and if we can put some distance b/n us and Miss State early I think it will speak volumes for where this team is TODAY.

I am interested to see how this team reacts after the loss. Getting back home, they will no doubt be fired up when they come out of the tunnel.

This is the type of game where they will either progress to the next level or maintain our current level until the last third of the season. Either way, I think that we should win this game...

One difference law is that I'm not sure the team feels like they had a good performance. I'm sure they feel they should have won, but not because of how well they played. That's what I like about PJ and this team though...I don't think they are satisfied.

Imo

In my opinion, this MSU game should be the point that we start seeing our improvements in this offense.

The BC and VT games were tough contests on the road and we just tried to grind out wins. I think our team can take the next step against MSU. We'll be playing at home, then we get a week off to nurse our wounds. If we can come away with a convincing win against MSU, then Duke and Gardner-Webb will give our team a chance to fine tune things before the big finish to the season starting at Clemson.

Re: Imo

The week leading up to the VT game, I thought we could win it. This week, we should beat MSU. Their offense is anemic, and even better they don't have a Tyrod Taylor to bail them out. I see them scoring maybe 7 or 10 points

I thought we improved from BC - VT....a lot.

Just seemed more confident running the offense even with the turnovers.

I agree completely. We seemed tentative against BC most of the game, but I really felt like we improved against VT. There were several option plays that it was hard to tell who still had the ball. Nesbitt's pitches have improved quite a bit.

It's really kind of odd, but I figured (as I'm sure most did) that our fumbles would come from errant pitches on the wings, but in actuality the fumbles have really been coming from the QB/B-back exchange.

I agree, but what I'm saying is that I doubt the team feels like they played well. Which is a good thing.

That wasn't a good performance. We should come out firing on all cylinders this game.

We'll be ready for a bye week and Duke (not sure which is better, I'll do a little more analysis after the Miss St game) after facing 3 defensive front sevens as good as BC, VT and Miss St. Dwyer and Nesbitt are both taking a beating.

"Some players pounded on lockers. Others just hung their heads. Saturday's 20-17 frustrating loss at Virginia Tech delivered Paul Johnson and the Yellow Jackets an emotional blow that will be hard to overcome before what promises to be a physical battle against Mississippi State Saturday."

"I thought we had it," offensive tackle Andrew Gardner told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I thought we were going to win."

"I'll remember this for a long time because we had a great opportunity to win that football game if we could just execute a little bit and not put the ball on the ground." -- Head coach Paul Johnson in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

- To me, this says CPJ isn't going to let it happen again. Good luck to the rest of our opponents. We've tasted defeat and won't go down easily the rest of this season.

no way Dook is better than MSU. MSU held awbawn to 3pts and that is saying something.

It's saying Auburn is implementing a new offense just like we are. MSU blows.
Auburn being ranked in the top 10 is a joke. They're very similar to us right now except our QB is much better than either of the guys they're trotting out there.

Duke has a pretty good D front and their offense is coming along. I wouldn't say they're better than MSU, although offensively they are, but they are certainly no gimme and way better than bye.

MSU's quarterback is just GOD AWFUL.

Look for us to get back to our intercepting ways this weekend.

Anyone else concerned we might be a little beat up? Nesbitt took a pounding. So did Dwyer. We'll pretty much put anyone in a LB and WR. Our interior OL has been dominated 2 weeks in a row and MSU is just as big and strong up front.

People seem to think this game is a Tech blowout and I'm not seeing it AT ALL. Usually blinders like this are reserved for the other GT board.

This game will be just like the last two. Low scoring, nip and tuck to the end and it can go either way.

PS - This game is very important because it comes before a bye. After this we really don't have a real opponent for a month. There is a real potential for loss of focus and let down for GT.

I think we are a little beat up. Its a non conference game also which means there's a little less urgency. I could see us playing lethargic. It will be interesting to see how CPJ and senior leadership rebound from VT heart breaker. Fortunately, I dont think MSU has any big play threats. 10 points against our D is max. My prediction:
GT win a low scoring ugly game.
