According to Macon Telegraph this am, Monken has applied for 2 HC jobs (1 of which has now been filled) and Spencer is a candidate for Army, supposedly.

On a day when he answered casual questions from fans at the Chick-fil-A Bowl’s first pregame news conference, Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson also found himself replying to a few more serious inquiries.
As Johnson and his Yellow Jackets prepare for a New Year’s Eve game against the LSU Tigers at the Georgia Dome, two of his assistant coaches have reportedly been in communication with two FCS programs and one FBS team for head-coaching vacancies.

When asked late Monday morning, Johnson said he wasn’t aware that Monken or any member of his staff was scouring any head-coaching openings.
“I don’t know anything. It is that time of year,” Johnson said. “My take is, if guys can better themselves in this profession and find something that’s better for their families and for their careers, I’m all for it. I’ll be the first to help.”

BTW, another related story on Macon's website talks about how Johnson is happy to stay at Tech.

“I’m not going to just go on them (the players) just like that,” said Johnson, who concludes his first year at Georgia Tech with Dec. 31’s Chick-fil-A Bowl. “We’ve laid a good foundation here. We’re excited about the future. I’ve got a great relationship with (athletics director) Dan (Radakovich) and the athletics association and the administration.”
Upon entering a ballroom at downtown Atlanta’s Marriott Marquis, Johnson shared his thoughts on the supposed Auburn coaching search, reiterating the fact that he was pleased to be with the Yellow Jackets.
“Every job I’ve ever taken felt like that would be the job I’d be at forever,” Johnson said. “An old coach once told me one time, ‘You don’t always have to take every job that comes your way.’ I always thought that was sage advice.”
The 51-year-old head coach said he often remembers the words of former older coaches and credited that piece of advice to the late Erk Russell, the former Georgia Southern head coach under whom he was an assistant.
In addition to wanting to stay at Georgia Tech for football reasons, he has other familial obligations which he felt kept him in Atlanta, he said.
“This is the place where we — my wife and I — wanted to be. We wanted to live back in the South,” Johnson said. “So there’s a zillion reasons why you don’t move besides the welfare of the players on your team.”

I hope we have assistant coaches getting interviewed for HC jobs every year. It means we are winning!

I imagine they would take the same style offense Tech runs and install it where they could potentially end up....man, before long, everyone will be running the triple-O.

I wonder how many copycats we'll see over the next few years...or at least some variation.

I don't think CPJ is a real big fan of snow and cold (remember the story about how he and his family discussed the Tech job in their house in Annapolis — during a power outage caused by a winter storm?).
On Monken - he will be not just a good head coach but a very good head coach. He has an eye for detail and organization. Would love to see him stay for a few years at Tech, but if a better opportunity comes along, I wish him the best.
