Smiling, Watson replied with a nod and a thank you to the reigning ACC player of the year. His own thoughts confirmed, the redshirt freshman B-back realized that he had just enjoyed a successful spring scrimmage.
Unofficially rushing for nearly 80 yards on 13 carries Saturday morning, Watson emerged as the day’s biggest star. Adding a short touchdown run during the 10-series scrimmage, he drew praise from his coaches and had them wondering how they can see it again.
“His parents were in town (Saturday) to watch, so maybe he turned it up a notch,” Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson said. “That means maybe we need to get them to come to practice every day.”

On the field, Paul Johnson typically keeps his emotions well-hidden.
Saturday morning at Bobby Dodd Stadium, however, one of them slipped his cover.
Amazed by some strong performances from some of his players following Georgia Tech’s second scrimmage of its monthlong spring session, Johnson was pleased to see the effort some Yellow Jackets exhibited.
“It was like always. There’s some good and some bad. But I’m just glad the offense took care of the ball,” Johnson said. “There were some guys who caught your eye.”

Wow... I know this has been said before, but our backfield is going to be absolutely stacked next year ... And the year after!
