Looking at the ACC schedule makeup and who benefitted most from the game before and after. I consider the game before to be key, but the game after can come into play so I'll look at that too. I'm not focused on home field for this analysis.

Clem - advantage GT - we play Jack St and they play MTU, both with a five day gap. MTU is much better than JSU and cannot be overlooked or played vanilla. Miami/BC after is a wash.

Miami - wash or slight GT - Miami gets more prep time (10 vs 7). GT will have two games to work out the kinks vs only one for UM. Clemson is big but for Miami it doesn't get any bigger than FSU. NC/VT after is a wash.

UNC - advantage GT - GT gets more prep time (10 vs 7) and EZU is too good for UNC to ignore. Miss St/UVA after is a wash.

FSU - advantage GT - GT has an easier setup with Miss St while FSU gets BC. GT has a tougher followup with VT versus an off week before UNC on Thursday for FSU. I almost called this a wash due to the VT game turning this into a classic trap game but no way an FSU squad can be overlooked.

VT - slight advantage VT or wash - VT has an easier tuneup in BC (we play FSU) but BC is way too good to let them get extra practice for us. After we play UVA and they get extra time for a Thursday UNC matchup.

UVA - slight advantage UVA - MD is easier than VT before and Duke is easier than Vandy after. Having said that, Md cannot be overlooked so the advantage is only slight.

Wake - advantage GT - Miami is tougher than Vandy and FSU is way tougher than Duke. Tough stretch for Wake.

Duke - advantage GT - UNC is a bigger game for Duke than Wake is for us and they play Miami after while we get bye.

I say five of eight are solid advantages for us on a 'microcosm' scale. No huge disadvantages like the UNC game last year. I like it.

I agree, although MTSU will be running the triple option as far as I know so that could help Clemson somewhat.

Totally agree, although I would give solid advantage to Va. Tech (nothing is tougher than playing them after a road trip to Tallahassee). GT gets really good advantages in the September games to kick off the season.

I like that a lot.

Why is FSU getting so much love right now??? They don't have a top reciever and Qb position isn't steady? So why all the props?

Because writers vote based on laundry. It's a lot easier then investing things like time, effort, and intelligence into something as useless as a preseason ranking.

I worry a bit about MSU. I don't know the personel on hand, but I think they will be a good team when Dan Mullins gets his offense implemented. He's too smart not to succeed.

I like our schedule a bit better then last years.

Because there isn't as much challenging them for their division and people are obsessed with teams "returning to glory" but only when that glory was in the news writers recent memory.

They do lose a lot so people admit it is a risky bet. Liebs is correct that there are no sure bets of the other teams. So rather than stick your neck out and pick an NCState or Maryland or get burned by Clemson again, you pick FSU to reload with their four star recruits. Personally I wouldn't be surprised to see Wake find a few pieces on D making this their year (again).

I like the fact that we get all the teams going through major changes early. I'd rather take on Miami early in the season before we find out exactly what their new OC can do. We get MSU in the first half of the season as well. Clemson will be making some changes, but we have them second. North Carolina will be losing a lot of talent on offense, but we play them fairly early.

It's almost like we're getting the ACC back for scheduling BC and VT second and third last year before the offense had really settled in.
