This confirms Chan isn't going anywhere.

Morgan actually committed a week or so ago...but did not want it public until Wednesday, January 10 according to rivals.com. Not sure what the significance of the date is.

Great news. Do we only have one more scholy or what? And are the two primary targets Malachi Lewis and Jason Peters?

As of today, we have 17 spots available (assuming Durant Brooks is not on schollie next year and uses other methods to pay for school) and 18 commitments. We would definitely take Jason Peters to make 19. Malachi we would probably take as well as a LB.

What could free more up?
- So far none of the 62 eturning players are academic casualties but a few are always close.
- We also have 2 (maybe 3) of the 62 that are likely medical candidates which would bring the 17 available to 19.
- To top it off, there is also the transfer...which is possible at QB and maybe one other position.
- I also have to wonder if Joe Gaston will return as a Sr-R that will not likely start...and if he does return is there a way for him to pay for school another way.
- Lastly there is the NFL draft. CJ is 50/50 and believe it or not Wheeler could make the jump even though he went in with zero expectation of joining the fray.

I hope its true, welcome to the Flats Mr. Burnett! Great choice!!!

Two best playmamkers in GA

Berry and Morgan Burnett IMO. I think this is the best playmaker commit for GT since that kid from Sandy Creek!

This is huge! Good job staff. Go Jackets!

Assumption.

A pretty logical one. On the other hand, maybe all these high school stars really just want to be a part of Wayne Clough's academic program. :laugher:

It also could be that Burnett has not made his committment public because he is waiting to see whether or not Chan does stay.

Hivered ....

I also saw where LSU landed a couple of very big fish this weekend along the DL and that may help us with Peters.

LSU has 21 commitments and 4 of them are D-Linemen. They also have a 3-5 top 100 guys that they are still after. I think we get Peters because we really want him here and the other 2 schools view him more as a fall back plan (but what heck do I know).

Now Burnett is saying that the reports were premature....I am divided on this approach. He deserves his time to make his decision however, if he knows that he's coming to GT remove the drama...and committ & be done w/ it. The more he stalls the more he hoards the attention away from Peters & the guy from CA or others that are truely "undecided"....Don't get me wrong I want Burnett on the flats & coaches are used to this I assume. But if you know you know....and don't create "suspense" just for the sake of keeping everyone guessing b/c in the end it could hurt your teams chances of landing other quality recruits....I admitt I am a little anxious about seeing who committs & am hopeful for the "best possible outcome". Truth be known I am sure the remaining "targets" are divided between several of the coaches, so this post my be irrelevant....Final point is committ as soon as you know b/c it's in the best intrest of your future team. Sorry if I rambled on a bit....GO JACKETS & Let's wrap up all the remaining "targets". Burnett I hope to see you at GT next year.....

Could very well be he is waiting on Chan's decision. He may have made the final decision before hearing about CG, but he is having second thoughts now. Just my two cents though - no inside knowledge for sure.
