Morgan to Lafayette

I hate to hear that.. but wish him luck... I would imagine being closer to home may have had a bit to do with it..

This would make Rodney Dangerfield blush. Good Grief.

Considering we just got Joe Gaston, a 3 star local product safety, I'm not that worried about it. As for the Rodney Dangerfield comment, I am not surprised. The kid wanted to go to school and play football with his 2 best friends. Is there a problem with that? Get over it.

BDG in his interview the kid admits that Tech is higher profile and plays in a better conference. But he says he isn't concerned about that just playing, and he thinks he will be a starter by the time ULL gets to conference play next season. He knows the players, his position coach in HS was at ULL last year, he already knows the playbook. Sounds like he's just more comfortable being in a smaller pond.

ncjacket I agree. Not every kid wants to ride the pine at a big school. At lot don't aspire to the NFL, they just want to have fun and a free college education. Nothing wrong with that at all. Hall had fun until he got hurt this year. He wanted to play and he did. These kids need to do what is best for them and their future.

ncjacket, why were we recruiting a kid who was even considering Podunk U.? When we are getting "out-recruited" by a school that many, frankly, have never heard of, then we have serious problems. A major program should not be going head-to-head with this caliber university...period (and then lose out to that school).

GTechsta, thanks for pointing out that he is a 3 star performer. I had not read that. I know that does not mean absolute majic, but it does help feelings. I do think from all I have seen that he is a 110% type kid.
That sounds great.....thanks for your info.

BDG I lost my list of schools we are allowed to recruit against. Can you post it again for me please?

So let me get this straight. The kid is a 2-3 star recruit (depending on recruiting service). He has interest from a number of schools and basically narrows it to several TX schools (Baylor, TCU) us and LLU where he has friends and where his HS position coach went. He eliminates everybody but us and LLU. In the end he evidently decides he doesn't want to travel across country he'd rather stay where he feels at home.

So do you think we checked out who LLU was after and decided he was somebody we wanted? Are we supposed to eliminate every kid who decides he'd like to go to Duke or Vandy instead of Ugag or UT? Without any regard for the kind of player he is? Sorry but I don't see the logic.

If ONLY lower level schools are interested your post might make some sense. But that's clearly not the case here.

Baylor, TCU and Podunk ARE lower level schools. This kid is not the caliber of talent that Tech should be recruiting, period! And then to lose out to this little known school with one traffic light on the town square adds insult to injury. We are definately trolling for recruits, any recruits, who will buy into what the Chan is cooking, at this point.

Tech should not be in a situation where they have to be scrambling around hoping that 1 and 2 star HS players will sign with them in a helter skelter fashion. Tech football is(was) better than that.

So what you are saying then is Gaston, Rhodes, Tuminello, Dunlap, Newberry and Parker are also kids we should not have recruited? I mention that since they are all 2 star recruits according to Rivals. Just want to be sure I understand where you ar coming from.
