Well, so far, Florida St is having an absolutely excellent recruiting season with a BIG 6 committments from the Southeast Top 150. Georgia is having an excellent time with 5 commits. Tennesse & Alabama are right there at excellent counting 4 commits ea. Miami, Clemson & Ole Miss are doing very, very good as all have 3 pledges. LSU's 2 is expected to climb.
Georgia Tech's WR to be, Chris Jackson, comes in @ # 127 on this list tying GT with NCar St, Arkansas, S Car, Ohio St & Oklahoma with 1 promise ea. Tech might not get as many from this player accumulation as last yr, but it's still good to see young Mr Jackson listed.

Did you know that Ga Tech is hosting the Scout.com's Southeast Elite 150 Football Camp? It'll be down the Tech campus May 26th. Camp is by invitation only. This camp doesn't cost the players anything as all is paid by Scout.com. The players are coached & do not do the combine times. Here's the write up by Miller Safrit, Scout.com.

Last year we had phenomenal recruiting, maybe the best since the early fifties. Does anyone believe we will recruit that well again this year?

Don't be surprised if we get a few during camp. Several are very close to committing. And they're gooduns!!!

Not quite as well as last from the simple fact that we are having to recruit more out of state prospects. However, I still expect a top 25 to 30 class. Still much better than our top 60 ranked classes of recent history.

But we MADE IT to the ACC Championship game.

Half-empty, meet half-full...at least for today

;)

Sorry for helping to derail this post....

NOW back to GT recruiting!

...and lost to Wake Forest.
Wake beat a lot of good teams this year - they were no fluke. And the 2 main reasons why we lost to them are no longer with the team.

Wake Forest didn't beat a single top 25 team last year. Everybody knows the ACC sucked last year and we pissed away a golden opportunity.

The main reason we lost to Wake is very much still with the team.

You're right, Knox. Their QB was the MAIN reason we lost to Wake. Plus, Abatete (sic) was the BEST LB in the conference. There was no shortage of GOOD players on that team.

If you think Wake was a weakling though, you need to change your glasses. That's mighty near sighted!

Wake played close enough with Louisville than for me to completely write them off. The experienced seniors on their defense were the main reason for their run and their loss will mostly put an end to their luster.

Huh?

We lost to Wake last year because Reggie couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a pass.

Reggie wasn't terrible like the "UGAg Reggie" but he wasn't great either - James Johnson dropped several passes and Nix wouldn't give the effin' ball to Tashard.

The "throw it as far as possible to Calvin" play wasn't working because the Wake Dbacks were just taking CJ out of the play and opting for the 15 yard penalty.

Oh yeah, I forgot, Reggie declared himself the starting quarterback.

good luck on turning your back on your kids.....especially when you really should be supporting them or are supposed to be. what type of REAL LIFE coach would do this?!

Are you seriously comparing benching a quarterback to turning your back on your children? Can you really be this stupid?

I seem to recall Gailey benching Bilbo and Suggs, so obviously he's the kind of coach to do that.

knox, it's May. It's time to get over it and appreciate the 9 win season. As distasteful and frustrating as it may be, you've got to leave it in the past.

By the way, speaking of the future, I am very anxious to see exactly how we look differently this year. And I am worried about Chan's inability to cut off Notre Dame's head early in the game and stuff dirt down their necks. If we play to not lose, we will lose a close game once again.

Wake served FSU 30-Love at Tally. FSU lost to UF by one score and handily beat UCLA in the Bowl. Wake was quality. (And Nix's Play calling against Wake didn't help.)
We were basically a 9-5 team. We were fortunate to beat UNC and come back against UM, Miami, and NCST. And we were unfortunate to give up the lead to ND, UGA, Wake, and WVU.
Why can't people understand that the 2006 Tech Team was good but not great? Tech was a 3 star team (except for one of our receivers) playing against 3 to 5 star teams. I believe Tech actually overachieved. And I also believe the program is getting better, and should expect better next year.
