Did anyone notice last season that we had the "at ACC games, both teams will meet at midfield and shake hands" at one game and none of the others?
 
This article completely misses the point: it's all about money.

Even if you include Bristol ticket holders, it's hard to see this game getting above 30,000 people. That leaves 130,000 empty seats.

If they get anywhere close to 30,000 people, that's 3-4x their normal attendance, which is huge financially for them.

True that. It'll probably be one of the highest attended FCS games of the year if that's the case (maybe even including the postseason). They can do what Miami does and just cover a lot of the seats to make it seem like they're closer to capacity.

Sure, but what about the cost of renting the facility and travel expenses for both teams?

When they have home games with 10,000 in attendance, they are doing it at their own facility, and the home team has not travel expenses.
