on Saturday.

We had four possessions of 9 plays or longer and did not score an ANY of them.

09 Plays - 35 yards
13 Plays - 64 yards - missed FG
12 Plays - 47 yards - missed FG
12 Plays - 50 yards - Punt

This is a grand total of 46 plays for over 190 yards and NO points. Any team in America will have a difficult time winning with runing that many plays and coming away with 0 points.

We can all lay some blame any many different facets of our team, but until we put up points with drives of 10 plays or more it is going to be very difficult to win ANY game much less against higher profile teams.

IMO, we are way ahead of schedule with all factors being accounted for.

PJ is the man for our Institute and brighter days are ahead.

Good points.

Another aspect is that our special teams play was killing us. They were getting 40-50 yard punts, with no returns, while we were barely getting 30 yards on our punts (after the return). That was a direct differential of about 20 yards or so in their favor...

This is a direct consequence of lack of depth.

and we need to be able to kick off into the endzone!!!

out lack of kicking and punting has cost us two games this year, IMO.

of course, having a healthy QB and OL would help a lot.

Wow, that's some interesting stats. I just can't wait to see how unstoppable our offense will be with a solid offensive line that has some depth.

With the loss of most of our great D line next year, I am not expecting a much better won-loss record. But the year after next should be very good.

Either that or sky kick the ball and make the opposing team fair catch the ball around the 20 to 30 yard line.

Isn't that th truth brotha!!

AMEN

IMO the OL will take a year or two more to develop. The right personnel are there. Building from the ground up though is very difficult.

Shooting ourselves in the foot didn't help, either - Jaybo was moving the offense when we got hit with back to back penalties, and then of course the muffed punt.

Our problems are directly related to personel; injured and inexperienced. We're ahead of where I expected to be.

But I'm still disapointed in this loss.

No doubt GTL. I think we are all disappointed in the L, but we have much to look forward to in the future. Heck, I thought we would be lucky to get 5 W's after the Spring game and here we have 7 of those babies with 2 left to play.

Best thing about the bowl eligibility is that are young players will get their hinnies worked off for another 3 to 4 weeks. It will almost be like another Spring practice which IMO will be huge!

Right then and therem, the botched punt lost the game for us, imo. It seemed like we were doing a bit better with Jaybo in there....all for not, however.

After the first series, I was pretty sure we were going to lose. You just can't come out with your hair on fire every Saturday and I think our fragile OL was really affected by Gardner's unexpected absence. It was very clear that the *spark* wasn't there. We have to play at 98% of our ability to win and its very hard to do that 12 times when you are also a college student.

Let's face it - we just weren't our normal selves Saturday and against UNC as we all knew there was little if any margin for error. And we as fans can't have a zero-tolerance policy for days when it just wasn't meant to be.

Something tells me that we might not be as energetic as usual against Miami either. I think our team's confidence has fallen a little bit. Losing Gardner's talent hurts but losing Gardner's presence hurts even more. Nesbitt is a sophmore. You need that grizzled veteran in the huddle who has been there before to calm everybody down and challenge/encourage the younger players.

I didn't get it when I first heard the news about Gardner. I was just thinking about the talent drop off. I get it now. Late-season injuries are hard to overcome - there just isn't time to figure out the new situation with three excellent teams on the schedule.

Its going to take some serious help from our coaching staff to keep our Mash unit of a team stitched together physically and mentally long enough to finish out on a high note.

If anybody can do it, CPJ can do it. But if he can't then no one else could either.

Or all for naught, which is the number of points we got on all but one possession.
