With an uncertain job situation at ticket renewal time, and 2 small girls (18 month old and a 4 year old), my wife and I had to make the disappointing decision to forgo season tickets this year.

We are planning to make "gametime" decisions on trying to get tickets for individual games, but we will probably just end up watching most of the games from the comforts of our couch. So, continuing the trend of "My Goals For..." threads, I thought I would share my goals for watching the games this year...

We currently have Charter HD, which gives us ESPN and ESPN2 in HD, the locals (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, CW/WUPA) in HD, and TNT in HD (among others, but those are the only ones that are potentially sports related). We don't get ESPN-U or some of the fox sports channels, but we will look into adding them soon (however, none of those are in HD).

I also picked up a Tivo-HD last weekend, but I haven't purchased the service yet. I am trying to decide whether to stay with Charter and Tivo, or switch to either Dish or DirecTV. For either of those, we would require HD-PVR capability.

So, does anyone have advice/opinions on what would provide the most GT Football in HD? I know that right now, only the ND game (NBC), Samford (ESPNU), BC (ABC), and VT (ESPN) games are scheduled for TV. Obviously, other games will be picked up, but who usually picks them up? What other stations do I need to make sure I have (especially if HD)?

I've actually seen CW pick up a game or two. I hate it though because reception is always bad. I would steer clear of Dish and go with DirectTV. The only problem with Direct is you have to purchase the mega package ($99/mth) to get ESPNU. The other comparable packages are close to the same proce as Dish and maybe a little cheaper - but you don't get ESPNU.

I was paying an additional 12.00/month to get the sports package that included ESPNU. I would call DirecTV to se if they are running a special. 99 seems kind of high.

Well, you know that the UGA game will be televised (ABC or CBS). Assuming we do well this season, ABC will probably pick up either UMd or Miami. Those are good games for ABC, since they pick up teams in major TV markets. It is possible both of those games get picked up.

WracerX,
chose season tickets over cable

Yeah, we're questioning that decision now

We didn't get to watch/enjoy the full games when we were there last year because of the little ones (although the diaper bag does make it a lot easier to bring in... things).
