First off we could not have asked for more from our defense. They where excellent.Notre Dame is the best offensive team in the country and I doubt there is any other team that could have held them to 14 points. The second half we held them to one touchdown and the defense was pretty much on the field the whole half. The only negative I saw on defense was our offense. I know the was Nix first game as the play caller but we did not take advantage of what was working. We where moving the ball with Choice and all of a sudden we decide to stop running him? we where having great success with the screen pass to Johnson early but again we stopped throwing it. We took only two deep shots down Field to Johnson and he caught one and should have caught the second if it was not for that blind side hit but again we didn't try again the whole game. I felt like Nix was more worried about mixing up the play calls then going with what was working. I never thought I would say this but I think Gaily should have stepped in and started calling the plays the second half. I hope when Nix looks at the film this week he sees what was working and sees his mistake by not sticking with it. All that being said Reggie Ball played pretty well, but he still has the same problem I think he always has had.If his first choice is covered he either throws it away or runs with the ball. He never seems to go to his number two option. Maybe this game they where covered I don't know but that is what it seems like to me. To sum it up after watching this game I really think we have a shot to win the rest of our games and be in the mix of things by the end of the season. Our biggest test will be in Blacksburg. we have plenty of time to improve before that game and I think we will.

Good thoughts. One thing of note: Did Tashard get hurt late in the first half? I noticed that we didn't really play him at all after the break.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. Like I have mentioned in other posts, if we stick to the offense we ran in the first half, we will compete for the Coastal title and like you, I hope that Nix sees the plays that worked on Saturday night on the film. I think he thought that the offense could go conservative the second half and let the defense win the game. In other words he was playing not to lose in the second half. That mentality needs to be scrapped unless were are beating the sh*t out of someone in the 3rd or 4th quarter.
