Navy 38 - Temple 14

As much as I'm ready for Collins to be gone, I'm not sure what's supposed to be gathered by looking at their decline. The same logic can be used by anti-CPJ or pro-CGC folks.

Cause the first 2 years here everyone was told the first 2 years of a coaching change were gimmies cause the last guy still owns the next 2 he leaves behind.

Temple was 9-11 those years by the way.

But if Temple was doing well in 2021, would that be evidence that Collins did a good job there, or evidence that his replacement was better?

I mean Collins sucks, but I feel like Temple's performances now could be framed to shape any narrative one wishes to push. I just think there are so many things to justifiably criticize him for without needing to reach outside our own sucky play.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. I feel the line of thought dumb. I’m of the Urban Meyer train of thought. There is no his players and your players. They’re all yours from the moment you become head coach.

I’m just relating why OP likely started the thread.

It would be evidence that he can develop talent. Which is his own claim. Since his upper classmen are actually awful at his last head coaching stop, it leads me to believe he has no actual eye for talent, or skill in development.

That's fair. I'm just skeptical that anyone outside of his few remaining supporters would be making that argument if Temple was doing well while we were still sucking. If anything, people would probably be using their success as further proof that virtually anyone can coach a team better than Geoff can.

My own lukewarm take is that Matt Rhule was a really good coach, and their decline started the minute he walked out the door.
