In case ya'll missed it last week, the Navy Midshipmen have accepted a bid to play an ACC team in the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, N.C. Navy is 7-3 right now, having just beaten Eastern Michigan. The Middies remaining gms are against woeful Temple & almost dreadful Army. The Midshipmen should certainly finish 9-3, with zero 'big' wins & Ls to the only decent teams on their schedule. But, hey, it is what it is.
The big question, to the ACC, is who will go to Charlotte to play Navy? The only North Carolina school on the Bowl docket is Wake Forest. The Charlotte Bowl picks 5th so WF may not be availiable.
On the other hand, unless the Deacons go to the Orange Bowl, the 2-4 Bowl picks most certainly won't want WF with their miniscule alumni & even less traveling crowd. The Meineke Bowl won't want them either. An enigma.
My guess is Clemson or Virginia Tech to the Meineke with Wake falling to the Music City. Here's the Navy announcement;

If Wake wins one more game, then I think they should get a big bowl like the Gator or Peach. And I think the Gator and the ACC owes it to them. When a team like Wake has a big year and right now we're talking no worse than 9-3, they deserve to be rewarded for all those years that they got nothing. They can have our spot in my opinion, they've earned it too.

Besides a pumped up small Wake fan base may still send 15,000 fans which won't be too different from a worn out Clemson fan base.

If Wake goes to Jacksonville, the Orange or Peach is theirs. If they lose to Maryland but beat Va Tech, at 10-2 they should definitely get the Gator. I think at 10-2 they would easily sell 25,000 tickets to the Gator.

But, if they lose to Va Tech and the Hokies win out, VPI will be the only 10-2 team available to the Gator and I think they will get the Gator bid.

That would put Wake perhaps in Orlando, but they would not be passed over by Charlotte. They would sell an ample number of tickets.

I think Va Tech will beat Wake. Therefore I see GT in Orange, Va Tech in Gator, Maryland/Wake in the Peach, Clemson/Maryland/Wake/BC in Orlando, Wake/Clemson in Charlotte, and BC/Clemson/Md in Nashville. We have six good bowl teams this year. The other two slots may be hard to fill. I wonder how Bobby B would enjoy taking a 6-6 team to the Emerald Bowl?

I still am cracking up at the thought of the mighty Hurricanes playing in Boise. How do you get a bunch of guys from south Florida excited about going to Idaho in January? Nice way to close out the Larry Coker era.

It is very likely that the outcome of the Tech/uga game will determine our bowl if that bowl is not the OB.
If we stumble again in athens, I will bet a dollar that the Peach (won't say chicken sandwich bowl) will offer the game to uga before we play the next Saturday.
We would fall to the Gator, at best.

We need to win out.
