Looks like they are going to get rid of the stupid clock changes they made last year. Thank God!!!

Amen! Last year's games were just too short.

Why that jackass Tuberville changed the rules to begin with is another story. Probably was bribed by the TV networks since they got to have more commercials due to the shortened games.

My biggest gripe about the clock rule - EVERY game we had to listen to the announcers explain it to us. You'd think by the time the bowl games arrived, they'd shut up about it.

Glad it's gone.

Clearly they are trying to fix the wrong problem. The problem is that THERE ARE TOO MANY DAMN COMMERCIALS during the game that prolong the game. The NCAA should insist it will only stop play for a certain number of TV timeouts and when they are up they just put the ball in play. TV can decide to have fewer commercials or miss live action.

I was originally for 3-2-5-e, but now I'm glad to see it gone. I realized that CFB games seemed long because of all the commercials and time wasted and not because of the length of the game itself. Also, the ends of games became somewhat less thrilling as 2 minutes became equivalent to about 1:30 under the pre-3-2-5-e system.

I like most of the suggestions at the end of the article too. I particularly like the fifth, "encourage coaches..." suggestion. I've seen too many times where the refs talked about a false start for five hours. IMO, officials should be more assertive. If one throws a flag, then a penalty happened unless another official objects.

However, I'm perplexed at the second one. How exactly would moving kickoffs speed up the game? I guess touchbacks would be eliminated, which take up time respotting the ball and starting the clock. The increase in touchdowns, however, seems to offset that time saving.
