My first post... need to ask for advice from some of the board old timers.

We purchased the "White" ticket package to Tech games this year. I want to purchase season tickets next year for family. What is the best strategy to pursue in order to obtain good seats at a reasonable price? Are donations to the Tech Athletic Association required to guarantee season tickets? If so, what donation range per seat would be required and where would they generally be located in the stadium?

I'm an old Techie with a younger daughter that will be transferring to Tech next semester and an older daughter at UGA (Yes, we're a "House Divided"). We're currently developing a family interest in supporting the Tech sports program. Any detailed ticket advice for a sports newbie???

You can get very good season tix - probably Section 228 on the upper east side - without contributing above the season ticket price.

Those seats were available this year in the white and gold packages.

I would *highly* recommed the Upper East - the unusual configuration of the Upper East in Bobby Dodd Stadium, due to the seldom used design of building the upper stancions directly on top of the lower stancions, results in being very close to the field of play while being elevated. Some of the best views in college football. Of course you may have to contend with the sun in your face in early fall afternoon games.

The tickets available in the West stands would not be nearly as good.

This year the GTAA conducted a re-seating, they usually do this about every 5 years, so you wouldn't really be able to "jump in" with contributions and get really great seats.

Seating for the football and basketball tickets are prioritized by "points"- roughly a point for every hundred dollars given to GTAA over the years, and points for buying season tix each year as well.

What I would do is call the GTAA and at least see if you can get the 2 points credit for buying the mini-packages this year (I bet they will give you the credit even tho they are not full blown season tix), then you will at least have started to gain some points, and you will get priority over people just walking off the street next year.

Welcome aboard the greatest ride of your life!

Thanks for the advice... good info.

Does GT have an RV club (and RV game parking) like UGA provides? We've been to several UGA games (supporting our older daughter) and RV parking and tailgating for DAWG games is available at a "price". Does GT have an equivalent type of RV/Motorhome club for fans driving into the games?

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">There is no official RV club, but the vast majority of the RV people park in AMC lot (the lot between the basketball arena and the downtown connector). You shouldn't have a problem getting a pass for that lot.

We didn't sell season tickets out this year, so you should be able to get decent seats. There really isn't a bad seat in the house, except for the corners or upper west. Those are visitor tickets anyway.

Tiar B gave as good a response as possible, so I won't rehash.

There is a minimum fee (above the ticket price) for retaining your seats each year. That's not exactly how they word it, but that's what it means.

On the other hand, it's much lower cost than most quality programs. There really are not many bad seats at Bobby Dodd, and I've gotten pretty good seats and have not donated a mint. I think it's the best football deal around.

I would look into prepay parking. It comes out to about what you'd pay per game (or less) and it minimizes your walk and headache. After beeing (pun intended) on the fence for a while on the prepay parking, I wonder now why I didn't do it sooner.

Like TiarB said. The GTAA will give you pretty straight forward answers about what kind of seating you could request/expect commensurate with each donation/ticket price.
