I've noticed 1 strange quirk among the Tech fans base that I've really never seen on other messages boards. When things go bad (or worse than expected) most fans bases get angry. They blame the coach, the players, failed recruiting, even the AD and president.

What do a lot of Tech fans do? They blame themselves and the program. "We aren't supposed to be any good with our crappy fans and academic restrictions and no majors and no girls and pro sports and......" a thousand other reasons why we don't deserve to be any better than we are.

An ironic aspect of all of this is that this type of sentiment comes mainly from the 'positive' posters - look at the Hive these days, it is littered with these kind of post. The irony is that I can't think of a less positive viewpoint than we will never be any better and have no real right to even hope to.

Anyway, I've always thought this response from our fanbase was odd and wonder if anyone has any explanation?

Academic restrictions are bull****. These guys are getting like 900s on their SATs and still getting into Tech.

Not completely. We can't ship players to Hargrave Military (and other post high school prep schools) like many of our competitors can and do. That's tangible proof.

On the other hand, we can fill an 85-man roster with guys who can play the game at this level and can manage the academics while doing so.

But nice job on the articulation of an argument.
