New clock rules

Gotta bend over and take it up the tail pipe cause TV has demands on their money

Although these rules would have prevented UGA from coming back in the playoff game last year…
This is something I’ve thought about a lot. What is more likely, a good team losing to an underdog needing time to come back and win, or an underdog losing to a better team needing more time? I think it’s probably more rare for a less talented team to come back late due to depth issues. Im not sure obviously.

Count me in. I think the games have gotten far too long. I like football. I like movies. 2 hours is good for a movie. 2 30 is a bit long. 4 hour movie? nah.

Less drives would increase the variance, so it seems like it would benefit the less talented teams

well we needed every second against UNcheat last season

A decent triple option team would have about 3 possessions per game with the new rules.

What are the new rules? Are they not stopping the clock on first downs anymore?

But does the last two minutes of the half still last half an hour? Got to give the more talented team time to wake up and win the game.

Shortening the action because game length has increased for advertising and commentary breaks simply reminds us that football has become studio programming and fans in the stands are simply superfluous extras.
Gotta make more time for TV commercials so they can drop those huge checks on the programs. The games themselves have become a secondary pursuit after personal gain and program dominance.
