New coach prediction: What you'd like vs. what you think will happen

Here's what I'd like:

1. Jon Tenuta as Head Coach.
2. Giff Smith as DC.
3. John Bond as OC.
4. Charles Kelly as ST coach.
5. Nathan Burton as secondary coach.
6. Joe Hamilton as QB coach.

Here's what I think will happen:

1. Jimbo Fischer as Head Coach.
2. Giff Smith as DC. (Jon Tenuta bolts).
3. Keep Charles Kelly as ST coach.
4. don't know about OC position...would 007 stay?
 
No offense, wesley, but you don't know anything about most of those guys, right? JoeHam has never coached on any level for example, yet you want him as QB coach? Why?

What I can guarantee is that if we make a change we will have guys who actually have done what we're hiring them for.
 
Godsey is doing a pretty good job of qb coach down at UCF with O'Leary. I feel that Joe has a strong grasp on the game today. Whenever he talks football, I always come away impressed. Some very unique insights, imo.

I don't know anything about our coaches? Like know them personally? I don't need to know the men on a personal level, i just need to see results...i.e. retaining Giff Smith is a must because of the impact he has on recruiting and keeping Charles Kelly is a must because of the DRAMATIC change for the better on special teams.
 
I would love to keep the whole defensive staff and bring in an equally aggressive offensive minded coach who could bring in an OC and staff of his choice.

The reality is that we probably end up scrapping the whole staff if we bring in a new HC. We would probably try hard to keep Giff Smith around to maintain recruiting continuity, but who knows.
 
I think a complete coaching turnover could be deadly to our program. I think you have to keep the defensive and ST staff at all costs, which likely means giving the HC spot to JT.

Yeah you saw what happened when we lost GOL, Fridge bolted too.
 
I don't think this will happen, but if DRad knows he is going to make a decision, I would make it now. In a perfect world I hire Tenuta to be interim Head Coach and allow him to try out for the job. By the time the UGA game rolls around, you know if he is going to work or not. If not, I would like to see these candidates interviewed:

1.) Paul Johnson- Navy's coach
2.) Gary Patterson - TCU's Coach
3.) Gary Pinkel - Mizzou's Coach
4.) Jimbo Fisher - FSU OC
5.) Bo Pellini - LSU DC
6.) Chris Peterson - Boise St. Head Coach

Those aren't in any particulat order but some top choices. I would be ecstatic over Paul Johnson. I think Patterson is also a very interesting candidate.
 
It's pretty much what every coach we have ever hired has done.

yeah we can hire BOR as OC, ncjacket as our DC, and TechGator as our ST coach.
 
In order:

1. Tenuta as interim and possible HC for good.
2. Paul Johnson.
3. Jimbo Fischer (most likely D-Rad's numero uno).

I could get excited about all three if we retained Giff Smith and Charles Kelly in all these scenarios.

A COMPLETE overhaul is not necessary, imo. A complete overhaul would scare the hell out of me. :ugh:
 
I think keeping Giff Smith and Charles Kelly are musts. I would also like to keep Bond if at all possible. As much as I would like to see Tenuta stay, he won't.

Haha, like when Rome used to find some farmer to be emperor? Lol, that'd work. I'd do it for 80k a year and I'd let the coordinators do everything.

I think I might have to be in the booth during the game, though. I get pretty pissed off, probably hurt a ref or something.

Back to the original topic:

WHAT I'D LIKE TO SEE HAPPEN:
More than anything, I hope and pray that we win out. (maybe one more loss, as long as its not UGA) A coaching transition will severely damage our program.

IN LIEU OF THAT:
Hire Tenuta immediately after we lose our 4th or 5th game or after we lose to UGA. 2 or 3 year contract, with extensions based on performance incentives.

WORST CASE:
I really don't like the idea of hiring a totally new coach, especially with the market as expensive as it is now. I especially don't like paying out the nose for some Larry Coker lookalike. I think the closest thing we'll find to this mystical "Tech Man" everyone's talking about was probably Chan, so our options are really pretty limited. That Navy guy BOR likes might work out okay, but the big problem with Tech is if the guy has any more success than Chan's had, which is our goal as a hire, then he'll get scooped up by Alabama in 3 years when they fire their next coach.

I'll jump into the fray and say that IF a coaching change occurs, I hope we don't force any of our current staff onto the new coach (I hope our fans are smarter than that). Now, if they earn the spot through the interview process then that's fine. That being said, I think DRad will handle everything appropriately.

I also hope that we find someone who can manage everything our S-As have to deal with outside of football (Paul Johnson should understand this although I don't think he's the right guy, football-wise). Bo Pellini and Jimbo Fisher are interesting because of their ties to D-Rad but I'm not sure that they can handle being HC at GT outside of the football responsibilities.
 
I'd say Bond would be 50/50 to stay. There's no way he has a deep bond with CG already. I doubt his departure would bother Bond.
