New commit!!

Daniel McKayhan, WR from Lilburn. King HS. Evidently other offer he was considering was Memphis.
Anytime we get a kid from GA I'm happy. Greater chance for UGA hatred.

I'm glad to have him if Coach Johnson thinks he deserves an offer, but a 6 ft receiver running a 4.5 isn't that fast.

A true 4.5 is plenty fast, the question is what he really runs versus what others who've reported 4.5s run. There are not that many true 4.5s around.

my concern is he played at a school that has PLENTY of recruiting visibility and his only offers are memphis, furman, and navy.

This isn't a fly under the radar guy IMO.....

Our other pickups all had big BCS offers and some were legitimately under the radar for various reasons....

Pj wants a wr who can block that is very important in this system. Just dont knock a player when you have never seen him play down. If pj wants him i will gladly welcome him. He has to be one of the best plain out evaluaters ever. It wouldnt matter to me if this guy had no offers am i saying that i wouldnt prefer someone with a ton of big offers? No but i am saying that pj knows what he is doing

not to be picky...but Lithonia is home, not Lilburn.

Regarding those questioning his speed..just watch his video.

He was not highly sought after outside of Memphis, Furman, and Navy...but players like him get lost in the city schools. Lets hope we have a diamond in the rough. It would be good to get some kids from our hometown.

If 4.5 = 4.7 actual then 4.5 = 4.7 actual for everybody so since I've never seen anybody listed at less than 4.3 he's 0.2 slower than the fastest guys. The relative number matters and whether or not he can catch the ball and knows how to get where he needs to be to have the opportunity to catch the ball matters about 10 times as much as a tenth or two anyway. There are a lot more fast guys than there are good wide receivers.

Just thought I would point out to everyone that Calvin Johnson had a 4.5 fourty when he came to Tech and he turned out to be pretty fast and an OK receiver. (sarcasm off)

I know comparing this kid to CJ is a strech I just thought that with the emphis everyone here seems to be putting on the 40 time it would be a valid point. Also, 4.5 is fast it olny appears to be slow now because we have gotten several sub 4.5 guys in this class. For example, we have only had 5 committs since 2004 that had reported sub 4.5 40's.
They were Roddy Jones, Lawrence Marius(no longer with the program), Jamal Lewis, Martin Frierson, and Loyal Gause.

If he can catch the damn ball, he'd have been better than our starters last year.

There's more to being a WR than stats.

Look at his combine stats. 5-10.5, 153 lbs, 4.66 forty, 24" vertical. I believe these were from before his junior season. Hardly enough to attract anyone's attention. I'm 40 years old and I have better than a 24" vertical.

However, the coaches said they were shocked at his size when he visited. He is supposed to weigh 190lbs now, so he added nearly a third of his body weight. That is some serious physical development.

And on his senior film he does not look small or slow. I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell the coaches take a WR who is too small to block or too slow to get behind people on the play action.

He is clearly a system guy they are taking to fill out the class, but if he can perform in the system, that's all that really matters.

Yeesh. I hate to say this, I really do, but you almost never add 40 lbs of muscle in a year without a little "help."

Can someone tell us how many scholarship players we have? Something makes me think we can afford a reach or two...
