I'm tired of going into stores and seeng UGA, FSU, FL,.... and nothing on Tech. If we want to return to prominents we need to see GT stuff everywhere.
South Georgia Tech

And see it in the right color. I'm tired of my choices for T-Shirts in many stores being in either gray or blue. I look for Gold stuff.

I think Curry will be a good ambassador for GT. I think the Atlanta media will seek him for interviews since he is such an interesting interview. The more he gets on TV, the better for us.

AMEN-AMEN-AMEN !!!!
I agree whole-heartedly with that.
Now, he'll need a plan of attack to do this though.
1) For the stores to stock the items we want to see, there will have to be a desire for people to buy the stuff.
2) We'll need to create a desire for customers to buy that good ole "OLD GOLD" mdse. How would we do that?
3) We need to WIN WIN WIN!!!
It seems to me that the people who buy this stuff in the Walmarts, Kmarts, Sears, etc generally couldn't give a flip for the institution that is represented by their colors. All they seem to be interested in is the fact that the schools have been winners in sporting events, and that they want to be associated with the winners.
Yes, GT NEEDS someone at the helm that CAN/WILL sell Ga Tech to the public, while at the same time NOT, and I emphasize the word (NOT) being satisfied with mediocre sports.
For us to be able to walk in a retail store and see "old gold" products staring us in the face like the "red" is now, we will have to earn it.

Well, I finally feel I need to do my first post. I have been reading here for several years.I agree with everyone here. I am tire of poor selections in what I consider wrong colors and poor styles. This is just one of many areas needing attention and work. The marketing of Ga. Tech is so important at this point in time. My instinct keeps telling me Bill Curry is the one that can turn things around and head them in the right direction in a timely manner. My instincts have served me well in business for over 30 years. My love and passion for Ga. Tech is endless. When Bill left for Ala. my feelings were that he had done about all he could for us at the time, and maybe we were ready for a change. I don't fault him for leaving. I met the man when I was a student at Ga. State working in a men's store downtown where he shopped. He gives an awesome impression.

By the way SouthGa I believe I read a few weeks ago you lived in Douglas at one time. I was transferred there in 84 then transferred back to the Atlanta area in 99.

Welcome to the board, McWreck, and your first post was a good one. I agree with you about Curry's leaving - I thought along with others at the time that we needed a change, and his going to Bama did not sour me on the man at all. I only met him once, when he was still coaching at Tech, and as you say, he makes a helluvan impression.

I sent him an email about a month ago and I HOPE he gets the job. We went to the same HS(some 25 years apart) and he was shocked to get an email from someone from his old HS. He is still nothing but class in my book and is exactly what I classify as a TECH MAN!

Hopefully we'll see how he can do as an AD. I told him it's time for him to come home.. Back to GT and his roots..

ABC local news was interviewing Curry last night, but I just caught the tail end. I don't really know what was said. I just don't get the feeling that the Hill and the search committee are going to go with Curry.
