An new coach would still be able to win at least 8 games with this talent next year and no to mention our schedule will be a little bit easier... if this is indeed our lineup for next year... 2009 will be the jackets year

a couple key misses...

there is a good chance MJ will not return next year....also, don't count out Trevor Bray in the mix at Fullback.

GT can't afford to lose MJ... DE depth (as far as talent goes) is just not there. Would that mean Jason Peters would move up pretty fast with Morgan on the other side? What about depth behind that?

What makes you think that Nesbitt will suddenly become a GREAT QB? He certainly hasn't looked anything like Tyrod Taylor in any of his appearances this year.

Also, Dwyer has not yet learned to follow his blocking. Maybe the light bulb will MAJICALLY come on before the beginning of next season.

But.....dream on! We can ALWAYS blame the coaching if they prove NOT to be the superstars we think they are.

u r assuming Josh does something about his to every 8-9 snaps?

Not coaches, just Head Coach who gets paid $1 freakin million dollars plus! Either way, the buck stops there- whether its recruiting, coaching, developing, hiring, strategizing, etc. No more needs to be said. Excuses Excuses Excuses blah blah blah is all I hear with your post....Everyone is tired of the same BS, here and on the field.

the story on MJ

I think he is very aggravated (and rightfully so)...I hear that some in the NFL are filling his head...I am hoping that the Chan firing will entice him to come back for his senior year. His dad wants him to finish at Tech, but said the decision is ultimately MJ's

Mover, maybe you can talk some sense into him! ;)

Indy's GM told me personally that he is not ready. I would hope that he would get that message to MJ.

MJ is not ready unless he wants to try and become the next Adalius Thomas, and that's a risk.

Gardner is the guy that scares me will leave.

If Nesbitt gets the starting job, we can probably wave goodbye to Calvin Booker. But if Calvin Booker was to start, Nesbitt would probably still get snaps much as he does now.

I just do not see us being very good next year, regardless of coach. We lose a pile of tackles on D and most of our offense in # 22. We would need tremendous WR and QB improvement. I hope they improve, but I just do not see much talent at those two KEY positions.

If we can get our QB situation figured out so that we're consistently on target and then have our WR's figure out how to hang on to the ball once it gets there? Our offense will be fine while we wait for Evans and Dwyer to come into their own.

I'm more worried about making sure our defense is properly reloaded. If our defense is good enough to keep us in the early games while we figure ourselves out, I think we'll be fine.

Count me in with the group who thinks we have the talent to be a winning team. It's no slam dunk;however, as we still need major passing game improvement, the secondary has to get better, we lose the meat of our running game (Choice, Cox, and our 3 interior Olinemen), Wheeler's gone, 2 tough senior DE's are lost, ect, ect.

Its just that we have some pretty good young talent waiting to step in. In the secondary, Burnett will be full-time (though I'm not sure he won't be back at FS instead of CB), Butler, Tarrant, White, and maybe even Donnely will have a chance. Morgan and Peters will play at DE (at ~275lbs each!), Yandell or Claytor may facilitate Cord Howard moving to OG. A slew of young running backs, potential game-breaker in Dwyer, a fairly young WR core (that can only get better, right?). I have a good feeling about Jefferson and Barnes at LB, and we have so many that at least a couple of LBs should be good.

Many hurdles to overcome (like losing the nation's best punter), but we are certainly not lacking in young talent.

Safety and CB are the scariest for me, the rest will be okay on defense.

The OL may be better next year IF we avoid injuries.

Our WR's are going to step up and play good ball next, I am convinced of that. I think James Johnson was hurt all season long and the rest will improve big time with another off season. Remember that guys like Dez White, et al were much much better as 2nd year players than first.

RB is the big loss but we'll be okay once Dwyer gets a spring under his belt.

BUT, BUT, BUT, the exact same problem that has been dogging our team for six years will continue to dog us next year.

ADD in that our schedule is brutal next year and we'll be lucky with another 7-5 season. And we will not bet UGA next year, they are going to be very very good.

Don't forget that we'll be throwing Roddy Jones into the mix at RB next year as well. You can't replace a guy like Tashard, but we should still be a running threat with Dwyer and Jones, as well as mixing in some sets for Evans.

The injuries to our OL this year could have been a blessing in disguise, as some of our newer guys now have half-a-year's worth of game experience.

The WR position won't take a major hit with the loss of JJ, as much as that hurts me to say. Smith, Earls, Donley, and friends should be improved.

BUT, as for QB, I'd like to see Booker get some decent play time in the bowl game. He looked fairly sharp on Saturday. But, then again, there's probably a reason he wasn't starting over Bennett. Renfree will be good, but I really hope we can red-shirt him, let him learn the offense (whatever that may be next year), and start him as a red-shirt freshman in '09. That'd me 4 SOLID years of QB play if he turns out the way some seem to think he will.

Every single year I worry about the holes created by graduation of defenders, but we always seem to rebound. That's one thing that worries me about the prospect of losing Tenuta. However, IF we keep Tenuta, I'd worry most about the safety position if Burnett moves to Corner. I don't care what anyone says; that kid is a solid athlete.

Yes, Burnett stands out and his CB play has been eye opening. He is a big guy too and if he stayed at CB and succeeded, he could be a big time NFL CB in the mold of Chris McCalister.

Isn't James Johnson just a junior this year?

Let's not forget that Bennett still has another year. For all his faults, he's also had to deal with a lot of drops of well-thrown passes. If/when a new coach starts, he should have an open competition for QB and see where the chips fall.
