"During the past six years at Navy, we played 29 BCS teams, in the large part from the ACC,'' Johnson said. "We averaged almost 30 points against them.''
Sorry, but I really don't feel like doing the research right now to verify this, but if its anywhere near true, that is awesome.

Some people have been wondering about the teams he had to play against. If he was able to score an avg. of 30 pts. against ACC teams with the 1-2 star talent he had on Navy.....wow.

If we could retain Tenuta, his defense would be able to hold the opposing teams to less than 30 (or however high the new avg. would become), especially when the offense is dominating TOP.

Looked at the last 3 yrs.

Navy scores as follows:

2007
Duke game 46
Wake game 24
ND game - a bunch (lol)

2006
Boston college 24
Duke 38
ND 14

2005
Maryland 20
Duke 28
ND 21

I think he meant from BCS schools in general.

He was a last-second fumble from beating BC last year. That's not too shabby.

He didn't mention that they were 11-18 in those games.

Considering he only had one recruiting class ranked with two digits the whole time he was there (93rd), that 11 in the 11-18 is amazing.

those are comparable numbers to ours with ALOT less talent.

Here's how GT's scores compare with Navy's scores against common opponents the last 3 years.

2007
Duke - 46 (Navy) 41 (GT)
ND - 46 (Navy) 33 (GT)
Army - 38 (Navy) 34 (GT)

2006
ND - 38 (Navy) 14 (GT)
Duke - 38 (Navy) 49 (GT)

2005
Duke - 28 (Navy) 35 (GT)

And these numbers are with a better GT defense which would help in TO ratio or starting field position.

Don't forget Navy put it on GT back in 1996 when Johnson was the OC there.
