Why not have a crowdfunding campaign to get some better players to sign up to play at Tech? I don't know if anyone has tried this yet anywhere else, but it might be a good way to raise some money for better players.

I’m not paying cash to an 18 year old to play football for Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech has an 20% acceptance rate this year. It denies high school students with 4.0 GPA‘s and 1500 SATs.

Georgia Tech is in the top 10 public schools of income for graduates. Georgia Tech is bad ass. Our graduates make big money relative to 99% of all colleges in the world—-median incomes $70k+ right out of college.

If the scholarship alone is not good enough for you. Get out of here. I don’t need you.

This current system of “college football” is a joke. It is Canadian Football League and Arena Football. It’s a mockery of college, regional, and boring like NASCAR.

Awesome and well said. I am a sidewalk fan. My daughter is a GT grad and I was and am so proud of her. I learned to love and respect GT football and as a family we have supported them from Boston to frozen Miami and the inferno of Tulane. The trek to South Bend this year and all places in between. No way I feel that same passion in this new era of mercenary athletes. Maybe I am too old for change but so be it. Add my grumpy off my lawn rear end to the It was fun while it lasted crowd. Sadly, in my circle there are a lot of us moving from passionate supporter to casual TV observer.

I’d maybe pay for basketball players but there’s too many freaking recruits for football.

Pretty soon we'll have to start paying mediocre skilled players to come play for GT.

Just in the ACC, what other fan bases can our crowd funding homies out compete? Wake Forest and maybe Duke. Nah, this sounds utterly terrible.

Remember when the Falcons lost Deion Sanders to the 49'ers? Remember why he went? If memory serves the Falcon's matched the 49er's contract terms so Nike told Deion they would give a few $million to go the 49er's. In the same way we will never ever win NIL unless we somehow flip the market first.

Abolish the NIL. Don't be a sucker and play a game you can't win. Crowdfunded recruiting = Georgia Tech loses

Disagree 100%. We have a better chance of winning with aboveboard buying of players than when only outlaws do it.

Get these big ten/ pac12 schools with 100,000+ alumni throwing some cash around and you will see the Bamas, UGAs, Clemsons etc lose their grip on five star talent. Talent gets dispersed and the margin between the haves and have-nots narrows.

Bama and UGA get the top talent because they are willing to cheat not because they have the most money in their fan base. Legalize buying players and they get left behind.

NIL is the repeal of prohibition, Bama/UGA/etc are bootleggers, Texas/A&M/Michigan/Penn State/USC/etc are Anheuser Busch. Big Business will prevail.

That is an interesting take. I completely agree with the only reason UGA and Bama get the best players is because they are willing to cheat. It’s a damn shame the NCAA is such a sham and allows that. But the people that enforce the rules within the NCAA are probably on the take too.

It would be nice to see some parity. The only problem I see is that even NIL will have rules and limits. And the cheaters are still going to cheat. But hopefully your analogy to bootleggers is right and they lose their domination In recruiting because they are paying players and their families.

And who wants these rules and limits? Smart, Saban, Kiffin, etc aka coaches of schools with smaller or poorer fanbases.

They know they can win in the black market but cannot in the free market.
