So, it's already been posted that ESPN projects us in the Orange Bowl this week. For the sake of clarity, here's the link again:

But, CBS projects us in the EMERALD!

NBC ALSO has us in the Orange...

...as does CFN.

What a difference, right? It just goes to show that nobody can figure out the ACC this year. It's wild.

man....I do not want to play those rednecks from Morgantown again.
There is nothing to gain by playing them. I wish we could play an SEC, Big 10, Big 12, or PAC 10 team.
However...NO COMPLAINING from me if we go ORANGE!!

That, and ESPN either thinks that both UVA and VPI will lose again or they just forgot we don't control our own destiny.

The orange bowl is not going to have good teams this year, (besides us, obviously :fingersx:) because the championship is in Miami. The Orange Bowl will get the ACC champ vs. the dead last pick of all the BCS bowls. It's pretty much guaranteed to be a BCS-buster or the Big East champ on the other end.

And don't forget that CBS are the geniuses who continue to employ Dennis Dodd, so I wouldn't put too much faith in what they say.

Don't you like fans dumping in their seats?

Someone remembers! :laugher:

Even before that happened I had found their fans completely underwhelming at the Gator Bowl. I felt like I was with an SEC crowd...almost as bad as LSU...but that is nearly impossible to beat in terms of slime.

I can guarantee you that at least one of those two teams loses again. With 100% certainty.

That's our saving grace, at this point, actually.

I don't worry about UVA and VT losing a game, the more difficult part is us winning both UNC and Miami games. It's easier for UVA and VT to lose one..

At least they predicted a bowl game, remember Sports Illustrated? Their official preseason prediction for us was 1-7 in the ACC. :laugher:

Here's CNN predicting us to be #80, one below Duke:

don't compare CBS's current prediction with whichever start of the year one. We already made it to bowl eligible, of course CBS puts us in a bowl now as everyone else. Before the start of the season, something like 30% of stingTalk didn't put us in a bowl.

Despite beating us, VT hasn't looked sharp all year long and I don't expect them to suddenly put it together and win four straight games, especially with their top two quarterbacks banged up right now. UVA still has three tough games. I don't see them going 3-0 in those.

I agree with whoever it was that said the toughest part will be us beating UNC and Miami.

Somehow, I don't think they understood your post.

For the short bus crowd: uva and vpi play each other the last game of the year. THAT is the loss Beej is referring to.

Absolutely agree. We have 2 conf games left. UVA has three left, including a trip to Blacksburg. VPI has four left.

Given the way we've won and lost our games this year, I wouldn't call it a stretch to see us playing in either the Orange or the salty nut bowl. We should win of our next two, hopefully both, and God willing, win all three remaining. There are five teams in our division with shots to play in Tampa still, which is insane.

I think most people are assuming we will play in the ACC title game is because a win in hand is worth more then the potential win. They also probably simply look at standings, not records.
