I've been doing a lot of reading and looking around and notice that it seems that people are giving us not much chance to beat Clemson. I really don't understand this at all. This vote for the winner site(http://sports.espn.go.com/espntv/espnMicrosite?showID=FBCG) has Clemson winning at over 80% and this expert picks site(http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/expertpicks) has Clemson selected to win at a rate of 80%. I mean it's not even close. Why would this be? Here are some possibilities, but what do y'all think is the overshadowing biggest reason.
1)@ Clemson
2)They simply have more talent
3)They are blowing (crappy)opponents away
4)They get more exposure
5)They are ranked higher so that means they must be better
6)We have never won a College Gameday game that I can remember

Okay, I give up listing things, you get the jist of it. What do y'all think is the reason(it doesn't have to fall in the forementioned list)?

Another VT game will not surprise me a bit. In fact I predict that after we beat Clemson Saturday VT will beat clemson 5 days later.

Their offensive strengths play into our D. Proctor will throw multiple picks and that will be HUGE.

I have 50-50 feelings about this game.

Clemson lost away to an underrated BC team that should be in the top 20. We lost at home to an overrated ND team that should be in the top 15.

They put together an emotional win at WF away. We put together an equally emotional win against MD at home.

This is not the VPI game again. VPI had played a bunch of cupcakes and were not used to our game speed. Combine this with an inexperienced QB, and you have a Tech victory. Clemson played Temple last week, but prior beat WF and FSU, both away. Temple was a rest game for their starters equal to our bye week. Proctor is playing like a senior who has been starving to get on the field (which he is).

They haven't really beat anyone, we haven't really beat anyone. Both teams are displaying good character quality. Chan Gailey has a horrible record after a 10-day rest. However, he has been breaking patterns this year so one cannot give any credence to this stat. Their crowd is going to be on fire because they haven't played anyone at home, yet. On the other hand, they don't really have a winning identity at home, yet.

The point is, this is going to mark a hopefully continual resurgence in one of the best big-time college football rivalries today.

One cannot look at statistics and records to figure this one out. One team is going to come out with the mojo, then the other team is going to rediscover themselves, then one team will have the character to stick this out in the end. Gamblers, flip your coins.

This should be a tough match up between equals. Turnovers and special teams should determine the outcome.

Clemson has a talented and senior dominated offensive line, the importance of which is so overlooked in college ball. They are solid at every other position. They are the best team we play this year, and we play them on the road.

They are better than us. But the best team does not always win. Clemson is not so dominant that they can overcome multiple mistakes (such as multiple turnovers near the goal) against a quality team, and we are a quality team.

If I was forced to bet, and I'm not so forced, I'd pick Clemson too. But they play the games for a reason.

Completely agree.

Disagree. At this juncture I don't think one can point to either team and definatively say one is better than the other.

Their offense may be better than ours, but Nix is still installing and refining our new offense.

Our defense is better than theirs, our numbers are skewed by the VT game.

Their special teams are worse than ours, the KO return by MD notwithstanding.

Overall, I think that our defense is as good as it's ever been, which is very good indeed, and our offense is much improved over the past few years. Am I saying we're gonna win? Naw, that's why we play the game, but I don't think Clemson has a better team.

We Have A Perfectly Good ....

chance to earn a mountain of respect Saturday night.

!! GO JACKETS !!

They are better than us according to the ratings and the odds makers.

We have a less than 50/50 chance of winning, maybe 40/60. Thats still a significant chance of us winning.

If we hadn't crapped our yellow britches against Utah last year, this would be a pick'em. Even on the road.

I will take GT and the 7.5 any day of the week. I look for a close game. A no mistake DEFENSE is big for this game. Respect will come. Let's just show them on the field.

GT 27

I still can't believe that was just last year (and the end of the season at that). But this year's team is different, it seems.
