NO scenario where TECH does not get bowl

the only way we do not get a bowl is if we turn it down

ACC has 6 Bowl spots and ONLY 6 - 7win teams (which all have to be filled before you can go to a 6win team)

After South Carolina loss means probably some SEC bowls may become available

Also Big Ten bowl may be available

I DO NOT see us turning down any invitation even the Seatle Bowl

The big ten has only one slot left open since both Wisconsin and Purdue won yesterday. The SEC will have one slot open only if Ole Miss loses to Miss St Thursday. I see us possibly getting that bid if we lose to UGAg and Wake beats Maryland. I can't see the bowl folks turning Wake down after a victory over Mary and I don't see Tech not getting a bowl somewhere regardless. We have good name recognition and travel reasonably well. I will say this though, the picture is about the cloudiest I can remember.

Doesn't look like the Big 10 slot will be avail (read: Music City)

With yesterday's wins by Purdue and Wisconsin, the BIG 10 will finish with 7 eligible Bowl teams (if you count 6-6 teams)
OSU (13-0), Iowa (11-1), UM (9-3), PSU (9-3), Minn (7-5), Wisc (7-6), Purdue (6-6). The Big 10 has 7 bowl tie ins, with the Music City getting the 6th and Motor City getting the 7th.

The rub here however is that the Big 10 will in almost 100% certainty send 2 teams to the BCS - OSU and Iowa. That would leave 5 teams to fill 6 slots.

As the Music City and Motor City pick 6th and 7thy, it is conceivable that the Motor City could get the remaining Big 10 team, with the Mudic City's permission. That would allow the Music City to get someone else.

HOWEVER, the Music City supposedly just signed a contracty with the Big 12 - this would allow the Music City to take any of the possible .500 Big 12 teams (the Big 12 has 7 bowls, 7 teams over .500 and hence bowl eligible already, and 2 teams - Ok St and Texas A&M - who will finish no worse than 6-6).

So it's in the cards that the Music City will get either Ok St or (probably they hope for) Texas A&M.

The Music City could have signed with the ACC instead, but then they'd probably get Tech or Wake, and they obviously opted with Ok St or A&M instead.

As mentioned, the SEC slot may be open if Ole Miss loses to Miss St on Thanksgiving SEC has 7 bowl tie ins (Sugar, Capital One, Outback, Peach, Cotton, Independence, Music City), and 6bowl eligible teams in UGA (10-1), UF (8-3), LSU (8-3), AU (7-4), Ark (8-3) - UK (7-4) and Alabama (9-3) are not eligible. In the SEC pecking order, Music City picks 6th and Independence picks 7th

The conference owes it to Wake and the other members to insure Wake gets a bid over us IF they beat Maryland. With that win they deserve a bid over us based on on field performance, which is what it should be all about. If we were in Wake's situation, I would want the conference going to bat for us. We of course can end all this nonsense with a win on the 30th.

THE RULES STATE THAT YOU CANNOT TAKE A 6&6 (WAKE) TEAM OVER A 7&5 TEAM (US IF WE LOSE)

Do you think they are going to BREAK THE RULES just to screw Tech.

Rules are Rules. Why not play w/ 15 people on Defense? BECAUSE THE RULES.

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT A 6&6 WAKE Team can go to a bowl over a 7&5 team.

lawbee,

He mentioned IF Wake beats Maryland. That would make them a 7 win team.

yea, but I think EVEN if that happens we will easily pick up another bowl

I can get on the doom and gloom bandwagon as much as the next guy, but MANY people talking about how we will not get a bowl is very irrational in my opinion.

I agree. We will be in bowl game regardless of what happens in other games. The only bad thing that could happen now is that we get shipped back out to the West Coast.

I have broken it down and here is how it goes.......
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are 5 bowls (2 for sure right now - Motor City/Seattle and three others possible next week - Hawaii/Music City/San Francisco) that can't fill their slots. There are 6 bowl eligible teams without a slot from all the conferences (combined including 9-2 South Florida as an indy and NOT including the 5 additional bowl eligible MAC teams). These six teams are as follows:
ACC - Wake (or Tech if you are a pessimist)
Big 12 - Oky State
PAC 10 - Washington/Oregon
Sun Belt - New Mexico State (A judgement call here that they would get the nod over a team like Ball State hence the omission of the 5 additional MAC schools outside of their 2 slots)
Independant - South Florida

I believe (and may be going out on a limb here) that surely 1 of the aforementioned 3 additional bowls opens up and the most attractive 3 teams to fill those spots are Wake(or Tech), Washington and Oregon. Of course, things become academic if 4 or 5 slots actually materialize. Comments?

Also, don't forget about the Humanitarian bowl getting Big 12 #8. Somebody posted they only get 7 spots. I would bet the Music City would really like another ACC/SEC matchup.
