Hey, clapper heard from a guy who heard from a guy who thought it might have been Tenuta who leaked it to the Herbie. The man has a source, and he's standing by that!
BTW, the other guys actually has some facts to back up his story (selection committee, and works with Herbie...Tenuta and Herbie are just acquaintances).
Hey, BeerNutts, I'm not surprised you get your information that way.
Other than the facts that these 'acquaintances' are both from Ohio and both have a relationship with Ohio State (Herbstreit actually started at ESPN the exact same year Tenuta was hired by the Buckeyes. Care to speculate what kind of relationship a rookie broadcaster might forge with the coaches from his alma mater?), let's look at the facts of this situation. What do we know - not the 'I know a guy who knows a guy...'.
Here is direct quote from KH (the bold is mine):
"Honestly, the best way to describe it is by the time Friday came around I had some information that trust me on this it was very accurate base on not a source but someone that was going to be involved in the situation. I made the mistake, I guess telling the ESPN bosses it and in doing that they are journalists and they said you’ve got an obligation to talk about that and go with it. You guys know, I as a former player really pride myself on my relationships with coaches and players..."
Now, by the time Friday came around, your source was 5 time zones away asleep in a hotel. Herbstreit, on the otherhand, was in Atlanta. And it's my understanding that he spent part of that time on the Tech campus...but just for fun, let's assume he hadn't.
Now, Herbstreit didn't just report that Miles was going. He said Tenuta was going with him. If he had this information from your source, don't you think he might have maybe just sort of driven to campus (if he wasn't there already), walked those couple of extra feet to the coach's office, or maybe the practice field sideline, and asked him if it was true before going public with something like that where he has his ass hanging out? If it was denied, do you think he would have run with it?
And look at that quote.
He prides himself on his relationships with players and coaches. Which potential source might just be a player or coach?
And which potential source was going to be involved? At the point of the breaking news, one was already involved? Yours. But we're talking future tense, not past or present. The report says Tenuta 'was going to be involved'. Future tense.
If you want to think I don't have a credible source, fine. The facts still support my 'speculation' considerably better than the junk you've been reading elsewhere.
