North Carolina - A Football Wasteland!

If we don't sweep our three games against NC teams, CG and company should retire. If it wasn't for Wake's 3-0 record against patsies, it would be hilarious. If it wasn't for Va. Tech, in fact, the whole northern group of ACC teams (states of NC, Va, Md) might have a negative power ranking. Not so sure about BC either - They did beat Clemson, but just barely edged out a mediocre BYU team in 2 OT's, at home.

Hope we don't have letdowns against any of these guys - Looks like 5 certain wins, one we should win at home against a Miami team with no offense, and three away toughies (VT, Clampsum, and Ugag). I see a 9-3 season as a real possibility.

Nothing is ever certain with this team, but I agree that it looks like the two toughest games will take place in Blacksburg and Athens.

First things first, we HAVE to be a Virginia team who just looks miserable right now, but in a short week like this, you never know what you're going to get from either side.

Driving home from the game Saturday I was thinking of the remaining schedule. I too, thought that 9-3 was a very real possibility.

I also thought that we could be 7-5 or 8-4. You just never know with our recent history. :fingersx:

The joke now is that if you combined State, UNC and Duke you still wouldn't get an upper tier ACC team. Also heard the old one about "leaving my Wake-Duke tickets on the dashboard and someone broke into the car and left 4 more" a couple of weeks back.

At least they all know they suck.:laugher:

If you assume a 90% chance to win each one individually, that's only a 72% chance of sweeping all three. It's possible that some horribly unlikely series of freak occurances happens, like vs NC State last year.

..just saying..

OK - No more math majors are allowed to post...

It's true. Virginia and North Carolina have looked bad while N.C. State and Duke have been flat-out pitiful thus far. Maryland is on the schedule as well and they have been about as bad.

If you want to step up to the next level, then games such as these should be wins. There may be a stuggle here and there but a good team just flat out win these type of games.

I'm pretty confident with the home games, UVA, Md. and Duke. What has me concerned is back-to-back road games in Raleigh and Chapel Hill that are preceded by Clemson on the road and Miami at home.

The potential bump in the road IMO is North Carolina. GT seldom plays well in C.H. and that game is sandwiched by NCSt and Duke. Really just got to take them one game at a time and worry about Virginia in a little over three days from now.

Appalachain State is pretty good.
With the quality of play from the NC teams right now, Appalachian State could probably beat all of them. Hell Furman damn near beat UNC on Saturday.

It wasn't as close as the score indicated - UNC had it all the way, holding Furman to only 539 yards of total offense!

Even us lowly IMs get the probability bit man.

Very true. Isn't it funny how "us Tech village idiots" understand the math that really counts? ;)

Best thing about all those Calculus and Diff Eq's courses - I can now calculate batting averages, completion percentages, yards per carry, FG and FT percentages, etc in my head. Chicks really dig it when you can spout off something like, "Reggie's 4 of 13 - That's 30.8%"

That's a lot more redeeming value than all those worthless Organic Chemistry courses...

:laugher: ...funny beej

I actually majored in Statistics because I wanted to work in sports. It is nice to know that I can calculate just about any 'sports equation' and that the applied theoretical statistics, calculus and linear algebra courses paid off in some way. And it does impress the wife that I can do a lot of math in my head and spout out an answer fairly quickly. Get's her in the mood ya know. ;)

My house: "Honey, did you know that 13X13 is 169 ...I'll be upstairs!" :fingersx:
