IF Va. Tech stumbles and loses two, UNC could well be our biggest road block to the Coastal crown. Granted, it's VERY early and we HAVE to take care of business (which is a considerable task...Clemson, FSU, Miami, UNC). But if you look at their VERY weak conference schedule ahead, the ONLY real tough test will be BC AT Chapel Hill Oct. 25th. They also play at Maryland in November.

At this point, I would NOT be surprised to see UNC atop the Coastal when's all said and done. IF we run the conference table up until then, that game with UNC could have BIG implications.

This all again assuming (and this is a big assumption) that Va. Tech loses two games.

Of course, we JUST NEED TO WIN BABY!!

I'm really just saying that UNC is about as big a roadblock to our conference aspirations as Va. Tech.

UNC has won games, yes. But against a very overrate UCONN (the Big East=overrated), and lost to the same team we did, beat MIA but FSU was beating the snot out of them. UNC is good, but I am holding judgment on them until we actually see some good team winning. The game agaisnt MIA was good, but MIA is dismal this year. Not to mention, UNC got pretty darn lucky on the endzone INT.

We would need to go undefeated, including beating UNC, to have a chance to make it to the ACC Championship game anyway. Whether UNC has 1 loss, 2 losses, or however many losses heading into that game won't matter; we have to win them all.

This is not a far-fetched scenario. I think VT could drop 2 ACC games before the end of the month (BC and FSU). UNC is capable of continuing to win. This would set up the match-up with GT in Chapel Hill for the division. I still don't think the Tarheels will handle the pressure of rankings and divisional implications as they go through the season, and obviously, we have some tough games to play before then.

UNC's dismantling of UConn, and their win on the road at Miami, is more impressive than anything Tech has done to this point.

We have not exactly dominated UNC lately, either. GT's game at UNC is our toughest ACC game remaining, and that's saying something with Clemson, FSU, and Miami still on the schedule.

I think winning @BC is more impressive than beating Miami. While BC is unproven, they did play in the ACCCG last year while Miami didn't even make a bowl (and that team actually started the year 4-1 instead of 2-3). They still have to play Wake, VT, and us so it could be another rough finish. Miami's claim to fame this year is that they played Florida tight for 2 1/2 - 3 quarters before getting put in their place.

The jury is still out on UCONN. They have yet to beat a team with a winning record. They beat Temple by 3, Baylor by 3, and a post-Petrino Louisville team by 5.

What makes you think UNC is better than Miami. FSU was some sloppy finishing work in Garbage time in a monsoon from a blowout type scoreboard against Miami while UNC barely won a slugfest.

I know it is only one data point, but on paper FSU with their suspended players back looks to be the better team.

I'm nervous about this game.

They look pretty good - esp. for UNC.

Dont be GT homers guys (says a guy on a GT message board). UNC is good. They have beaten several solid teams. And if they beat Notre Dame that's another big one. The only loss they have was to a team they were DOMINATING when their starting QB went out. Give credit where it's due. Plus, it's highly likely that UNC will be the first ranked team we play.

Unless of course they do lose to ND. Which I am not sold on ND, I still think they are overrated to the hilt.

I will admit though, UNC is good. They are the only team that really scared me honestly.

GT has won nine of the last 10 against UNC --with five of those wins being by a margin of a TD or less.

UNC is going to be a big game. Along with the rest. Miami, FSU..any are not going to be gimmes. UNC may boil down to being the crux. We shall see, my friend.

Post more often, PC. I miss you. How's things with you and yours?
