Very reggie-ish day, but without the big running gains.

17/40, 230 yards, 1 td, 1 int.

just 6 of 19 in the 2nd half...

At what point is it fair that we reach the conclusion that the quarterback position will always be a weakness under the current coach?

I blame CCG for not recruiting a high caliber QB until now (Nesbitt), but the lack of developement at QB falls on Nix and Bond.

Good QBs can be made by good coaches. Why is it that Friedgen ALWAYS had a good QB at GT and Gailey has had none? It's not simply a recruiting issue.

Sorry TB.

You're a good kid but you need to take a seat at the end of the bench.

It's time to bring on the future.

I won't argue about the HC and OC being responsible for the development of the QB. However, to Fridgen always has a great QB is BS. All you have to do is go back to last year.

Well jacketup, why is it Ralph hasn't hasn't had a good qb since he left, huh?

We should've run Dwyer more on the outside
and someone remind we why we burned Nesbitt's redshirt?

i don't blame TB for this. it was his first road conference game. He shouldn't have had to throw it 40 times. We are a running team, we should throw it that many times unless we are down by 2+ TDs. We were down by a single score, why the heck did we make TB throw so damn much?

Considering the poor play calling IMO, his piss poor OL play, his WR dropping more balls than they are catching, and tons of penalties again this week, he did well.

Macon,
Wrong, we need to get Dwyer to run more on the inside! He only goes outside and teams know it.

Ralph has health problems.

Every QB that Friedgen coached at Maryland under Ross played in the NFL. Every QB he had at GT either played in the NFL or broke substantially every passing record--first Jones then Hamilton.

Oh yeah--I guess Godsey was an exception.

Oh this too--he took Stan Humphries--a journeyman NFL QB ---to the Super Bowl.

Are you saying that Gailey and his lieutenants are on this level, or are you just making stupid comments?

Jacketup, the fact remains that Friedgen's quarterbacks at Maryland have been horrible for four years now.

Friedgen certainly has some great success with QB's in the past, but not recently. It suggests that it was partly Friedgen, partly Ross for example.

Ross was a better offensive mind than any other head coach GT has had in the modern era, but he had nothing to do with Hamilton or Godsey. Gailey has yet to have a QB that could hold either of their jockstraps. Why did Ralph have excellent QBs every year that he was an OC at GT and at Maryland, and Gailey hasn't had even one in six years?

I agree with your point that the head coach can have a lot to do with passing game development, and that Gailey is a failure on this score. Gailey has almost no Div 1-A coaching experience, so it is not surprising.

To be fair, compare apples to apples.

Freidgen was clearly a better offensive coordinator at his peak than John Bond currently is.

Freidgen is clearly an overall worse head coach than Chan is.

Wayyyyyy too many overthrows and other altogether terrible passes today. I guess my expectations were just too high. most of the yards in the gator bowl loss were from nix's favorite play, "throw it deep to calvin".

Now that CJ is gone it's easy to see where the QB (any QB, not just taylor) is lacking. This was the single most frustrating game I've ever had to watch. Every other play had a penalty but half of the non-penalty plays featured our QB missing a receiver.

How many time did Larry Coker say "I bet he wishes he could have that one back."

Somewhere AJ Suggs is laughing.
