2004 - 29th in Scoring / 15th in Total Offense
2003 - 7th in Scoring / 4th in Total Offense*

*Broke the Big Ten Record for Total Offense

Every team in the country has some kind of zone blocking scheme, but Minnesota's looks different because of its efficiency. This is a credit to the offensive staff led by coordinator Mitch Browning. No one does it better, which is why coaches from all over the country study Minnesota every spring to see what it does differently. - Bob Davie

Article on Mitch Browning as a recruiter: Link

"Ohio is a critical state for Minnesota, and Mitch (Browning) is one of the top two recruiters in the Midwest along with Wisconsin's Henry Mason," Tom Lemming.

Great numbers, but I'd rather hear a quote like this from someone other than Bob Davie. Also, does this mean he's a good recruiter overall, or he just has ties to the Midwest?

Just questions and thoughts - good find JTS.

Gotta love their running game at Minnesota! Consistently one of the best.

Not a big fan of Bob Davie either, but I think the point is that other coaches go to clinics and study his zone blocking schemes because he is one of the best at it.

If Lemming thinks he is the 2nd best recruiter in all of the Midwest, I think that says something. Minnesota isn't a very attractive school for recruits and the state of Minnesota is not a hot bed of football talent.
