Well now that the day's games are over I am off to Waffle House. Not only do I have High School coaching issues to deal with, (I am a High School coach) but I am also thinking about some GT issues.

1. How will the offensive line shape up for next year?
2. Will we stick with Reggie (I really hope so) but if not who is in line to back him up?
3. Is Richards back full speed?
4. How is our depth at DB and LB developing?
5. We must improve our special teams thus what moves will be made by spring?

Banker , you are a breath of fresh air and I respect the hell outta you if you can deal with the kids
Sorry we see our coaching different but thats life
Good luck with your team

Having played at Tech and now also coaching High School may give me a different perspective than many.

Spring practice is around the corner!

Gotta disagree with your #2 (only), I hope we don't stick with Reggie and start off spring and next fall with someone new.

In the interest of good discussion, what things make you want to stick with him vs. going with someone else? Me? Ending his Junior season (bowl game) doing the same things he did as a Freshman show me he's not improving.

As for #5, any chance we'll see the wholesale moves like Miami just announced?

I personally like to play with an experienced QB unless he just does not play inside of the OC's scheme. I think RB does this although his passing accuarcy could improve which would certainly help to get the ball to CJ which I think is imperative. I believe that you have to give a fourth year kid the nod until he shows in his fourth season, that he cannot get it done.

Regarding number 5 I have been very disappointed with special teams and hope we will do something there. Additionally, if Chan could find an OC that plays inside of his scheme, and truly calls the plays, that may not be a bad thing either. If Chan feels that he needs to control the play calling then he needs to do so and continue building his system although it will need to show some more improvement next year to justify this.

Fair enough. My gut tells me that we've seen everything RB has in the tank. When he's flustered, he will always resort to the 'chuck and duck' and he does not have the touch to throw the corner or sideline route. He relies on his feet and the Nut Bowl showed us what happens when that's not available.

We have talented men on the bench that want a shot at it, I say, no time like the present.

I do not completely disagree with you and believe that he could improve dramatically in his fundamentals to be more accurate. I on the other hand would want to see some of the other QBs to get some significant playing time this spring to see if one of them may be ready to step in. Putting a Freshman or Sophomore QB in front of a three year starting experienced QB would be a dramatic move. I still believe that RB is our QB.

Banker.. 3 years ago someone put in a freshman ahead of a senior and it didnt seem to help so why not do it again
Do you think he is not talented enough or not coached good enough ?

You may want to try that one again herbee,

I assume you want us to replace Reggie but your quote indicates it didn't help. Why do it again then?

N.C, I was still slaeep this morning
I hope he would play the best player available no matter what class he is in
Not to dis a S/A but I keep wondering if RG is not being coached good enough or if he is at the top of his game

That's what I figured you were saying.

I think Reggie's maxed out, but could obviously be wrong. We need a big step forward from that position to improve though and he's not the guy to do it, I would rather take a shot with one of the younger guys.

There is only one issue that drives Tech football right now: Quarterback.

If Reggie is the only option next year, then I am not wasting my hard earned money. That is not an attack on Reggie, I think he is a fine athlete and I really like him.

But we might as well put Richard at quarterback, another fine athlete who would be put into the wrong spot.

Reggie has so so much to offer this team but he has been asked to do too much. He did a great job of leading our lead when we had no other options. God Bless Him, but we have other options.

If Chan does the conservative thing next year and plays Reggie over Garner, et al then two issues are at stake:

1) Chan is a fool, driven by conservativism, which plenty here have already argued, or
2) Chan can not recruit a decent quarterback.

Either way, Chan loses in my book. It's been long enough for this nonsense, put in the other guy so we can find out if it's #2 above.

I think calling Chan a fool is a bit too much. I do believe you will see him give Garner a hard look this spring but will revert back to Reggie because of his experience. Another year of growth and experience for the offensive line may help Reggie out also, but I would like to see a big improvement in his accuracy which is on Reggie and the staff to get this done.

Mid ..dont call Chan a fool. He is making many people out to be fools, especially the ones that gave him his extension.
#2 You are dead right.. Any decent hi schooler could come here knowing he could start in his freshman year but they take one look at his offense and know they will be on a dead end street

I don't know about that. Garner was a highly recruited QB. By the way the extension is not that big of an issue. Coaches are let go all of the time with time left on their contract.

i love rb toughness but he can't or want throw down the middle and teams use the sidelines as another db.
i think its time for a change.

Garner was a gift from Fla and I hope he pans out. Oscar Meyer decided he didnt want him to late in the game and most other colleges were full up
I got my own idea of how this extension will work out. Someday we will get a new AD and Chan will decide to retire for health reasons to save the new AD from firing him. Now he is just hanging around for the money
I have been wrong once or twice in my life so dont bet on it happening this way

Maybe but the bottom line is that he is here and Chan got him here. It will be interesting to see how Coach Curry will get along with Chan when he takes over as AD.

I think we get a new AD by this summer and then Chan has one year to impress the new guy.

I'm hearing now that Curry isn't a candidate....dunno if it's true or not. For that matter, don't really know if he really was a candidate in the first place!
