Offense wet the bed

Young, depleted defense played lights out while the experienced offense (Joe, Snoddy) crapped their pants. Roof is getting the job done. Can't say the same for our overpaid offensive coordinator.

JT5 and Snoddy played poorly. Allen wasn't ready to carry the load at bback for an entire game.

The flag on Joe was BS. The right call there is to call unsportsman like conduct on Joe AND the two DL standing over Thomas pulling the ball away well after the whistle. Dumb play by Joe to let the refs decide the game. Dumb choice by the refs for making the call to decide the game.

Our freshmen on the outside weren't up to playing VT's front seven for a full game.

Thomas takes a hell of a beating every game. Our OL has to be the worst in the country. Three or four defenders coming nearly untouched at our QB play after play...our OL coaching and our S&C is just inept.

I frustratingly slammed Thomas a bit much in a post last night. He cannot be consistent when he is constantly running for his life in the backfield. Even the fumbled pitches were pretty much a product of poor blocking.

We are a bad football team on offense and supposedly we have an offensive genius calling plays and running the show.

Defense played well.

JT5 doesn't step up into the pocket consistently and it is killing us. He rolls out and then ends up losing a ton of yards because he can't throw the ball away. He's gotten better at it as the seasn has progressed, but he cost us a lot of yards last night by trying to roll outwhen the line was expecting him to be in the pocket.

JT5 not stepping up into the pocket is probably item #8 on what is wrong with our offense.

There is no pocket. If he steps up he is stepping up into defenders.

....

It's S&C when an offensive lineman gets shoved back into the QB/pocket. The jail break we're seeing across the entire line when 3+ defenders come free is not an S&C problem. There may be a S&C problem too; but we'll never know until the lineman engage someone in a block.

Sometimes. But there were several times last night when there was a viable pocket when JT5 went outside. One was on the deep sack.

Look at the UVa game. Awful passing until JT5 starts stepping up into the pocket. Sometimes he is running into the pressure.

The issue isn't strength and conditioning. You tell me how 5 guys should block 9 defenders. Now you know why there are four on the backfield immediately and we run and shoot on pass plays. If we run a tight end set with a running back to block things get easier, but there is still 2 extra guys coming through. That doesn't forgive the poor pass protection the line gives, but it's not like they can stop 2 guys a piece, eapecially when we don't run a zone pass protection scheme.

Surely nobody doubts that Sewak is gone after this season, right?

Aside from the infants who spout the "he won't get fired obviously CPJ likes the way our line is playing so why would THE GENIUS fire his BFF :bowrofl::rotfl::bowrofl:" nonsense.

I dunno, he's made it this long while we've been through 17 defensive coordinators in that same stretch.

People can try to make comparisons to 2012 if they like, but our line play during that stretch has never been anywhere close to this bad.

I agree but I'm just saying I'll believe it when I see it.

The reason you guys are throwing darts as to why our offense is terrible is because it makes no sense and there isn't a singular issue.

I've given up trying to figure out why the offense sucks and figure I'll find out next year if this is a weirdo fluke season or the new normal for Georgia Tech. I can't imagine CPJ having more than 1 year like this (2-10 his first year at Navy and 2010 are his only losing seasons as a head coach).
