This thread was bound to pop up eventually today.

After watching 3 guys at once break into the backfield for 3 plays in a row.... It's like we don't even have anyone on the line.

How did we get so bad from losing one guy on the OL?

Back to trying and block by biting their ankles.

Compare to how our line blocked Mano a Mano vs ugag last year.

Will be interesting to see if CPJ even talks about ST. Killed us 2nd week in a row.

Good teams have a D step up, no matter what, when things don't go right.

I'm back on the fire Sewak hype train. Who's coming with me? Who's with me?

Yeah it's crazy. We lost one guy who's now on the Patriots line. Shaq was a gift from God and one of the biggest reasons for our success last year. This OL feels ala 2010-2013. Same old swiss cheese.

Something needs to be done now.

Yes, Shaq was amazing and is now starting for an NFL team as a rookie. But one guy doesn't make night and day between how we played in the orange bowl vs how we are playing now, from an O-line perspective.

At any given time, ND and Duke consistently had 2-3 guys in our backfield. Shaq wasn't cutting off backside pursuit. And I think Shamire has been decent. It's the entire group as a whole.

On the bright side, at least we dont have to worry so much about losing 4 seniors on the OL to graduation next year.

Early in the 4th Duke was manning up 4 on 5. It is like our OL is so concerned about getting to the next level, that they don't block, chip, or turn the DL out of the way.

They looked terrible. And JT5 needs to work on that snap count.

Shaq Mason
Absolutely agree his loss to graduation made a difference. There is a big difference between four fairly decent linemen plus an All-American and five fairly decent linemen. What we have now will look good against weak competition, but obviously can't block decent lines and linebackers.

In postgame, CPJ made the point that skill guys covered up a bunch of deficiencies last year on blocking. Even in the postgame of the Orange Bowl, he said JT played great but also said "I think he made big plays despite mistakes in front of him." Or WTTE.

No, I really don't get how 4th and 5th year guys would block the wrong guy. I saw plays where both OL chipped the first level guy and tried blocking the second level. That's obviously going to be a bad time for JT.

Duke supposedly implemented some of ND's. Did they just make the formation intentionally very weird? I doubt that. For any kind of formation, how could fourth and fifth year seniors make those basic mistakes?

Good news, I guess, is the blocking got a lot closer to correct in the 4th quarter. It wasn't an illusion that CPJ was giving it over and over to Skov. He ran the same play five times until the blocking was right. Duke was crashing down inside out, and the dive should have been there. But our B-Backs also couldn't break it for more than 4-5 yards like Days or Laskey could have.

I'm not sure what happened yesterday, but O-line needs to be retooled, punished, motivated or something. They have played horrible last two weeks. The D line was better, but still had tuff time in the trenches. I drank the Kool-Aid, and a lot of it, but this is sad.
