In our Offensive Line system, after the snap, which position is the toughest to play?
Or, do all three pretty much share the same amount of responsibility?

1) Center?
2) Guard?
3) Tackle?

I don't care what offense you play, the center is the most important position for the OL. Like baseball you have to be strong up the middle. C-QB-RB :: C-P-SS-CF

After that its usually the LT, but I don't know about our offense since there isn't much drop back passing.

I'd say the center b/c more than one team has lined up 2 DTs on each of the centers shoulders. Center has to be the most brutal position but tackle may be the hardest to execute b/c they are constantly going downfield to get the linebackers/safeties on the ground.

I believe LT's in the NFL are second only to QBs in pay. After Theisman, protecting a quarterback's blind side is extremely important.

Left Tackle because he's your franchise guy that protects the QB'S backside.

In this offense I would say the Guards because it's so important for them to get to the second level and distract the LB's.

if the QB is left handed do they move the LT to the other side?

yes. this was for a pro style passing offense

i agree that for us, the guard play is the most important. nothing will go without the center, but the only way to get big yards is if the guards do well

guards --> yards

LT in a NFL style offense without a doubt followed closely by the C

In PJ's offense...due to the minimal passing and style, I have to say the C followed by the G's

thoughts?

With all of this talk on the interior of the line, how are Nick McRae and Omeregie Uzzi two of our biggest freshmen progressing? If they are as good as promised, they could be a huge upgrade to our OL.

In his press conference this week, PJ mentioned that he thinks we'll be fine on OL next year because "we're redshirting a couple of guys who could probably start otherwise."

That's a paraphrase, but you can read between the lines on it.

I believe that CPJ said when he was hired that he would try the players (at least the new ones) 1st at center, then guard, then tackle.

Here are some of the players who tried playing the center position in the Spring or in camp.

Dan Voss
Nick McRae
Omeregie Uzzi
AJ Smith
Joseph Gilbert
Brad Sellers
Trey Dunmon
Andrew Folkner
Sean Bradford

Who's playing LT on Sat? Did he play any vs. FSU?

Looks like Austin Barrick. He and Nick Claytor shared the RT spot during the FSU game, with Brown out. They both did fine. Claytor looked especially good, I thought.

What do you know? ;)

School me, RM. Looks like the C's responsibility is pretty straight up in this O, but the G's can change pretty consistently depending upon DL gap alignment.

Speaking of Dunmon, what happened to him?
