This is absolultely baffling. It's as if we're trying to lose. All we're doing are handoffs and RB scrambles. I hope this changes soon because the defense has to be getting tired.

This is With Two Weeks to Prepare?????

Nice job by Nix & Gailey - Guess they were reading all the stuff about this game not meaning anything.

This just makes the Miami game even more critical - All we can do is hope that the psychological impact from this one is only temporary....

I think I could accept what is going on a lot more if I thought we were doing everything we could to have a chance to win, instead of basically acknowledging defeat in the second quarter and not throwing downfield whatsoever.

So let me get this right. You think those RB scrambles were called? Most of those were supposed to be pass plays. The problem was either lack of protection or Reggie not standing in to make his readns and throws.

We never ran that quick flare out to Calvin that he always seems to pick up 10 yards on. We didn't try a single fade when we got to the 20 either. When we went deep it was to James Johnson which isn't a terrible thing, but how in the world did CJ end with no catches? that is amazing to me. When we lined him up in the slot an his nearest DB was 20 yards down field on like 3rd and 4 and we didn't quick throw it his way...AAARRRGGHHH...What the hell were we thinking there?

We were only inside the 20 once from what I remember and that was the first drive. Other than that, the other things you are mentioning are reads for Reggie. The quick flares would not have worked because they were jamming him, but many times he was open in the slot and Reggie didn't see it...sometimes because he was running for his life. We tried the slant, but Reggie typically misses those as he did tonight...they were daring us to throw that pass.

We just have to hope Reggie is healthy for Miami

When I said inside the 20 I was referring to the first drive when our playcalling got really conservative, yet again and as far as that flare route goes I was obviously meaning when the DB wasn't up tight.

As far as Reggie not seeing that Johnson is all alone in the slot when we only need a few yards is unacceptable for a 4th year QB. Hopefully, whoever takes the reigns next season will be more aware of situations like that.

ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!!!!!!!!

I got the feeling that no one was talking to him about it on the side line. This is totally unacceptable.

That is why I thought Bennett should have come in earlier and not just QB a running game as he did at the end. It was like the coaches just gave up.

There is nothing wrong with pulling Reggie with him struggling and giving Bennett an opportunity.

You must be kidding that you get a feeling a coach has never mentioned what openings to look for on an offensive alignment. C'mon.

Plus...that is not a defensive tendency that repeats itself...Clemson screwed up on that one alignment and RB needed to notice it. There is rarely a second chance in those situations.

Then explain why there appeared to be no changes or adjustment.......

Because Reggie had happy feet all night except for the one TD drive. Maybe his injuries, but he was looking at the DL and LBs even after the play started. That's why I thought we should have given Bennett a shot somewhere in there.

There were tons of adjustments...and a lot of new offensive alignments...CJ was all over the field. Watch the tape.

Reggie simply was not seeing him and you only get one chance to fool them and the QB has to recognize it. The other problem is RB is just not consistent on the slant or we could run it all night long. He throws it behind the WR 90% of the time.

Whatever the reason, the bottom line is we went a very long period of time without even attempting to get 1st downs by putting the ball in the air. It was basically run, run, run, punt or run, run, pass, punt. That isn't going to work against Duke, much less Clemson. If Reggie was so flustered/banged up that he couldn't stand in there and throw the ball until the game was already out of hand, then he didn't need to be in the game. We have a running game that is efficient when the passing game gets going, but you're not fulling anyone when you run it every play.

I just don't feel the offense even gave the team a chance to win this game. Clemson is the better team, but they aren't 24 points better.

I'm not disagreeing with how our offense performed. But your original statements were simply wrong. Pass plays were called...Reggie gave up on them and ran. Now I do agree that I thought Reggie should have come out of the game last night. For two reasons. 1 - he was playing terrible, and 2 - he was obviously hurt. We need him to run the offense we're using now and we need him more against Miami than we did last night.

qft

And he didn't run particularly quickly, either.
