Caps will win the Metro, because the Metro is a dog turd.
And the Bolts finally lost for the first time since Nov. 27th...that was a heck of a run they had in December.
Teams have been so streaky this year. Obviously Tampa is on a tear, but look at the Isles and Pens.
Or, look at the Flyers, a team that is a model of consistency...
Trotz man. Islanders were looked at as lottery front-runners entering the season after losing Tavares for nothing off a mediocre team. Now they’re gonna make the playoffs. I follow the Metro pretty closely and I don’t think I could name more than 3 guys on their roster.
Was at TD Garden tonight. Caps didn’t shoot a lot, but darned if they aren’t efficient. Every time Boston scored, the Caps responded as the PA guy was announcing the assists.
Like a cat with its prey.
Trade Deadline approaching. Caps continue to load up on former Pens making a move to get Hagelin at 50% retained for picks.
Metro is still a clusterfuck outside of Tampa. Not out of the realm of possibility for one of the the Caps/Pens to slump and miss the dance.
Blues have come out of nowhere. Won 11 in a row. Haven’t even trailed in there last 6 games or something crazy.
61 points is getting you into the playoffs in the West right now. That’s Colorado as the 8 seed at 25-24-11. 10 games below .500.
Tampa is in the Atlantic. Fun fact: They've already crossed the playoff threshhold for the East.
The Caps getting Hags while the Pens pay for him is ironic, since the Caps have been paying sleeper-agent Orpik for years.
I think the Caps and Pens both get in. I also think Philly gets in over the Bluejackets. In the West, I uh... I don't care. That whole Conference is damned mess. I mean the Ducks, the ööööing Ducks - losers of 12 straight games and 20/25, are still in it.
Yeah started typing about the Metro and then switched modes to the East. Good catch.
The potential of the Pens paying Hagelin to score against them in the loffs makes my insides feel good. Although clearly we didn’t sign him for offense.
Agree I’d bet on the Caps/Pens both making it. But the Canes and Flyers respective hot streaks has made things interesting.
I'm just hoping that Tampa, as dominant as they have been this season, don't have to play the pens in the first round. Really hoping that 2nd wildcard is either the habs, canes, or flyers.
Yeah that would be quite the clash. I’m still of the mind that Tampa/Caps/Pens are co-favorites for the cup.
Damn and Toronto/Boston as the other 1st round matchup on that side. That’s a dream scenario for the Caps.
A long way to go and Canadiens, Pens, and Blue Jackets are winning, but my Hurricanes are playing very good hockey. Terrific win by 5-2 against the Blues tonight.
If Columbus misses the playoffs after going all-in at the TDL I’d lol. If Stone doesn’t resign they would have basically given away a 1st, two 2nds, an elite goaltender, a 1C, and an elite winger for nothing. Up there as an all-time management blunder. Could have been looking at a pile of assets to jumpstart the rebuild.
I feel for the guys running Columbus. You've got Bread and Bobs basically saying they aren't coming back. So you roll the dice, and go all in this year. They overpaid some and it just seems that it isn't going to work out. You're also getting Stone and Duchene switched, but I can see why. On paper, that's a hell of a team.
The amusing part is that Duchene is bad luck all around. Ottawa can't even lose for Hughes this year, because they traded their 2019 first for Duchene.
I'm still standing by my statement that Philly squeaks into the playoffs.
Metro now back to being obviously better than the Atlantic as teams round into playoff form. I'm SHOCKED!
yes. Obviously better.
I mean... that comment isn't aging all that well. Boston is still a better team than either Washington or NY. And the Blue Jackets are doing their best to get Torts and the GM fired. The Flyers are cooked.
Hell, the Caps haven't beaten a playoff team in two weeks.
I really want the Caps in Round 1.
Pens need to remind the Caps who their daddy is.
