Great news! Now to replace Carmona. We are actually going to have to play some defense occasionally. :first:

That is ridiculous. Is it too early to talk about them being one of the best MLS teams ever?

That's the sticking point here. An Atlanta team has to prove they can win without choking.

The regular season is one thing, but winning the end of season single elimination tournament takes almost as much luck as skill in soccer.

That's just an excuse. Atlanta teams are always gonna choke no matter how stacked the team is.

Atlanta teams have traditionally come from an underdog mentality. Most everything Atlanta United has done was pretty much first rate and top of the heap in MLS to my understanding. Think about it... Hawks, Braves, Falcons... not really much to say they are consistent winner not operating as such with the exception of the Braves having a well run farm league in the early 90's. I'm new to the soccer thing but it seems Atlanta United is going to be at the top of the heap from their beginning.

And no less than the league's 4th highest payroll from 1993-2001.

Ahh ye old cornholio busting my chops. I'll get you, I'm buying season tickets this year. We are going to drink beer for beer and see who can make it to the stadium. Be warned. We will hit the QB this season at some point.
On a side note, paying 97,309,279 for four pitchers does nothing when you play teams who can get a few hits. Also, my point still stands.

Tata isn't letting Carmona go. He said so when he got interviewed yesterday. Reports say AUFC want $5 million for him and Colo Colo is only willing to give $1 million. Also he'll be starting workouts this week when training begins.

I'm interested in who DP #5 is going to be. Apparently we might have enough cash to buy down Josef to non-DP status. If that happens then we can open up the unlimited Uncle Arthur checkbook and grab another DP. I know we supposedly have a deal in place for LucRod when we sell Almiron but we could easily grab a DP CB/CDM to replace Parkhurst or Carmona/Larry

Good news on Carmona! Things are coming together nicely.

Are you just assuming this, or is something in the works?

We got offers for Almiron over the winter that we turned down mostly because you can get way more money during the Summer transfer window. Almiron's goal is to get to Europe. I'd personally rather wait until after we get a championship to sell him.

My thoughts exactly. He's gonna end up in Europe soon, but I'd love to get one more year out of him. Watching him and Josef together was fun, and pairing him with some of these other guys would be crazy.

There was a new complication with his wife's pregnancy that kinda forced our hand.
