Acquiring JT Realmuto would cure a lot of ills I think.
Gotta believe that ship has sailed with McCann coming in
no I don't think McCann precludes us from JTR. McCann is a backup catcher making a couple million a year... nothing that should be planned around.
FWIW, I don't think we'll end up getting JTR, but I do think we have been in on talks for him even since we signed Mac.
I'm wondering if the Marlins aren't trying to get more out of us due to us being intra-division and are going to end up with a lower overall package in the end because of it. JTR's value is at a peak now, so I would be very surprised if he isn't traded somewhere before the season starts. It can only go down from here...
With Markakis being added let's see how the 25-man is shaping up-
Pedro Florimon Jr.
That screams 90 wins and sad trombone, early playoff exit
I would definitely take 90 wins any season. Will typically get you in the NL playoffs.
He’s riding high after the Pirates successful 2018 season, what with finishing 3 games over .500 for a change.
Loser expectations. Sad.
Definitely one of their best seasons ever, lmao. ööööing idiot.
We should sign Adam Jones and platoon him with Inciarte.
Anymore Uptons available to overpay?
Inciarte is an everyday player. Either play him 145+ or trade him to improve somewhere else and move Acuna to center.
This is going to get really old really quick. Welcome to the ignore button, corndog, had fun while it lasted.
Phillies look close to landing JTR. I didn't want him, personally, but I didn't want an NLE team to get him, either. That coupled with Nick f'n Markakis is major fart noises.
I don't get what Anthopolis is doing.
Sounds like the fish wanted Austin Riley, which the Braves were willing to do, but they also wanted a lot more in terms of prospects. Like I said, I didn't really want us to spend big on catcher. Also, if this move means they don't get Harper or Machado, then I'm all for it. It certainly doesn't preclude them from getting one of them, but makes it more palatable for their fanbase if they don't, I guess.
As for AA, he is shopping in the bargain bin. I really only detest the Kakes move. We didn't need Donaldson but, if healthy, he's going to produce. And I think he's likely to be healthy.
Also, it is fine to keep prospects around and be deep. The only problem is you are gambling on prospects flaming out and value decreasing. Right now, Gohara and Allard are worth less than they were at this time last year. Not AA's fault but it is his fault when he doesn't capitalize on prospect value. And I know it is a gamble on which ones to trade and which to keep, but that's why he makes the big bucks.
Gohara still has value in my eyes. He’s a lefty fire baller with 2 plus pitches. What I saw from Allard was dog öööö. His value is nearly nothing at this point.
I’ve said this several times, but at some point the Braves will have to trade pitchers. We have too many quality arms in the upper minors or in the show already. There is not enough work to go around. Plus you only devalue starters by putting them in the bullpen. The return better be worth the wait...
What happens if Riley comes up in spring training and goes Ronald Acuna on us? We've got Camargo and Donaldson at 3B. Can Riley play LF?
utility OF - Kakes?
