Let the Miggy era end and the Pity era begin.

AUFC finally confirms the worst kept secret in MLS, announcing Gonzolo Martínez on January 24. Less than a week later, Miguel Almiron is sold to Newcastle for a record £20M.

New kits suck, and it means we'll have to wait at least one more year to get a gold one.

Happy for Miggy, but if that 20M number is right Barco better pick up his ööööing game over the next couple seasons or United is gonna lose out on what they paid to get him.

I can't believe someone paid that much for Almiron. doubt he amounts to much in premier. And I'm really not trying to be a hater, he just has limitations to his game that I'm not sure he's good enough to overcome in that level of competition.

We shall see. His on the ball speed should play anywhere. He dominated MLS, so this may show us how large the gap truly is.

Well, the Newcastle press certainly seemed to like his debut minutes Monday night.

I actually watched the game, had it recorded from NBCSN. He looked every bit as fast on the English field as he did at MBS. He got whacked a couple times but kept his aggressiveness. One play he tried to hold the ball in his own corner and got thrown down (no call :ugh:) but got right back up and threw a shoulder into the other guy's thigh. He should become another fan favorite there if he keeps it up. Will be fun having a PL team to follow now.

I'm already a Man City fan but I'll be following Newcastle as well. I meant to watch the game the other night but forgot to set the DVR to record it. Gonna try to watch some of the other ones though.
I did watch Newcastle in the game before he got his work visa permit and they lack play makers and creativity so his speed could help just in that respect.

    Well, that was... disappointing.

It was certainly a free-flowing game. The away goal gives us a chance at home but we're definitely behind the 8 ball.

almiron looked pretty good for Newcastle this weekend.

I'd like atl's chances a lot better on thursday night if the game was at MBS instead of Kennesaw St

That red card Miggy drew was pretty vicious. Spikes into the ankle and went head over heels. Still was a very active 80 minutes. Newcastle fans gave him a pretty loud standing o.

He played another very strong game on Tuesday and was once again removed at about the 80 minute mark to a standing ovation from the home crowd. I even watched a 30 minute segment on Men in Blazers in the background yesterday and they did a couple of minute segment on the effect he's having for Newcastle.
Essentially, he's using his speed to stretch the defense and his ability to create plays to benefit others. To date, that has meant more and improved chances for his fellow teammates.

He did get off a pretty good breakaway that the goalie was able to save in that game on Tuesday but if he keeps going like he is going, it won't be long before he gets his first PL goal.

With the coaching change and formation change they have a lot distracting them.

I think they are going all out for it. I'm just afraid the Costa Ricans are going to park the bus in front of their goal tonight. We're going to have to make a couple of long distance strikes over/through a bunch of traffic.

i dont know, coming out flat 3-1 in 1 leg, having the games at k st instead of mbs, just smells to me like the organizations focus is on league and playoffs. Hell, I dont know how many ATL fans are even interested in this tournament. They should be. But i bet the concept of international competition is lost on most of them.

you can still buy tickets for basically face value on stubhub right now. and there's only 10k seats. even with the threat of rain, that's sad.

Didn't know that about the tickets. I figured it'd be impossible to get them. Wish Kennesaw wasn't on the other end of the world for me or I'd try to go.
