Our starters got garbage buckets against their third string.

    Yes.
The not so funny thing about Pastners buffoonery regarding this being a major rebuild is that his on good season came with all of Gregory’s players.

A season after Gregory led us to the NIT title. Maybe we should have kept him, for contracts sake and hell the fact he made it to the NIT title.

Chances are we’d be spinning our wheels all the same regardless. It is still somewhat baffling to me that we can’t figure hoops out.

Headed to the ATL next week and looking forward to seeing this team up close and in person Wednesday night, then catching the Beesballers against UCLA on Friday. These threads are helping me get fired up for the trip.

how much better would we be if Cofer had transferred to Tech instead of FSU? at least a little bit.
FSU has always recruited Georgia but with Charlton Young there (ex Ga Southern head coach and a good guy), they are really hitting Georgia hard.

We've got a long way to go. It's not a matter if the pieces are in place and they need to come together. the pieces just aren't there.

We only made it to the quarterfinal in Gregory's last year. Pastner took us to the title game and we got blown out.

I think Bobinsquatch had made the decision to fire Gregory a full season earlier, but couldn't raise the money. So he fired him after his best season, then botched the search by still not having enough money to lure anyone good. That was our AD who was supposed to know hoops.

Devoe signed in 2017 just as the Bell story was breaking. Since then we have signed zero top recruits. Our graduating seniors are not great but they appear to be better than the players coming in.

We have signed two transfers since then who were unhappy with their previous situation and wanted to return to Atlanta with guaranteed playing time. The transfer who has played to this point has gone downhill as the season continues. Banks and our program would have been better served by sitting out this year and having two more years to play and develop.

Pastner has lost whatever recruiting credibility he may have had. I hope I am wrong but this looks like it will continue downhill for the next two seasons. Then a new coach will inherit a program much worse than the one left by Gregory.

In a nutshell your post seems to sum it up.

We aren’t winning, we do not seem to be improving, we are not recruiting well, we seemingly are not coaching well, we do not appear to be in any position to change coaches.

This is about as bad as it has been post CBC.

This is as bad as it has been since Dwane Morrison was the coach. Hopefully Stansbury chooses as wisely as Rice did. I just wish we did not have to waste the next two seasons.

How long do major rebuilds take? Serious question.

Likely answer: "I don't know/won't commit, but not this long."

Not this long is for minor rebuilds, major rebuilds is a different calculation
