The way I see it one of the only tangible things we can do to climb our way out of this purgatory is to support the team. Support, atmosphere, helps recruiting. Recruiting will help losses like this. Otherwise the cycle continues.

A full and loud arena can eventually overcome in some cases sub par recruiting by the staff. I certainly know the opposite won’t help.

There never going to be the next Coach K walking through that door. Waiting for Pastner or Gregory or anyone to pull us out of this mess on their own is folly.

I enjoy watching that junk defense we run now. I swear it morphs from 1-3-1 to 2-3 matchup to man-to-man in a single possession. It's obvious we spend alot of practice time on it and it's paying off. Of course, it goes without saying there are other phases of the game where we aren't as fun to watch.

I sympathize with your assessment. Moral victories are like participation trophies. They're for loosers.

I've now officially watched two basketball games this year, this one and Wake, which is exactly two more than I watched last year. Wake was good. This one we pissed away in the last two minutes, with a missed layup, a whiffed wide open three point shot, and a boneheaded turnover.

Outside of that, the game was pretty good. It would be nice to hit easy open shots and not screw up down the stretch, though. Not sure if that has to do with team focus, or was just dumb luck.

Good Post. And, we know that Pastner is trying his best to get the fans to support and create a juiced atmosphere. The problem is - is that this is the ACC and even the lesser teams are quite decent - and the best you can do is go 2-7 on the road.

You all will regret watching any more games this year. Heed my warning.

With Ben, Josh O and Jackson leaving, we don't have a "go to" guy yet. No one on this team did that last year. Someone has to want the ball at the big moment. Jose has carried the team at down moments, but needs to be the take charge guy at the end of the game. I don't see any other canidates at this time. Devoe may develop in to one, but he is not ready yet.

The beauty of playing good defense is that it always gives those that play it a chance to win. It doesn't take talent to play good defense...it just takes effort.

One undiscussed topic from the game was that #24, 6-10 center for the Hokies, lifted his left heel off the floor when shooting free throws. I don't know if he copied this move from CGC or not, but it could be.

Oh, crap, my bad. Forgot I was in a basketball forum.

Yeah, this is probably true in basketball.
