Okay, different OL question

This is not about how good the OL is. But dems and others talk about how banged up our OL is and how we've had trouble keeping the same 5 on the field together for practice, etc. so they get some continuity. I understand how that can hamper the line, but what I'm really wondering is why this is happening? Is it simply bad luck? Is there something they're having to do differently that's leading to injuries? I mean, I know all players get dinged up and OL get hit or hit someone every play, but it seems like we're suffering more than most teams. Does it just seem like it because it's Tech or are we really snake bitten this year on the line?

A lot of it is probably players playing in a system they weren't designed for. Just like if you stuck a WR in as a full time tailback, he would probably get banged up too.

NC,

you've asked a very valid question here. I've been wondering the same thing as well.

I'm also wondering if our strength and conditioning program is up to snuff. No way I can attend any practice, so maybe Dem or someone else may enlighten me to our S&C program, I'd appreciate it.

I don't think we have anything to worry about in the weight room. If your alluding to the fact that it seems like we have more injuries this year, I would bet the house that it's because our style of offense is 100 times tougher and more smashmouth than it was under Gailey. Notice how very few defensive players have been hurt when compared with offensive..

Georgia just lost their second OL of the season. How many have we lost? Clemson has lost 3 or 4. I don't think we're any different than any other team

U[sic]GA is on their fourth Left Tackle starter of the season.

The OL that stomped MSU? The one that didn't show up for THE RUNNING BULLDOGS?

This question should be directed at CPJ who decided to take the day off and almost ruined a promising season.

Just how many of the staff were at the party the night before?

This is D-1 ball, Coach.

So just what does that rant have to do with injuries? or reality for that matter?

He's been in D-1 ball the entire time. IIRC, never coached out of it

I'd like to pile on you with everyone else, gnats, but I think you're at least partially correct. I think PJ expected that perhaps for the first time in his career he was going to be able to win on pure talent alone, and didn't take GW seriously. I don't think he'll EVER make that mistake again, though. Hehe.

We need to thank our lucky stars that PJ learned the hard way, but that the lesson didn't cost us a game.

I've got a question for the insiders who have been going to practices. If our offensive line is so poor, then why aren't some of our highly touted recruits getting playing time? I thought Nick Claytor or Clyde Yandell would be starting by now. Couldn't they move to the interior OL for this year? Also, if we are that bad at the guard spots, then why don't we consider burning Uzzi and Phil Smith's redshirts?

There may be changes to our starting OL this week. I heard some hints, but nothing concrete.
