To summary the FOCers reasons for supporting Chan:
Georgia Tech is not a football factory; a coach has to work extra hard to find players to meet higher academic standards, recruit nationwide, yada, yada, and yada. We can't do any better, so lets' stick with him, and have more time to develop his system.(with his players.)
So help me out, what system? Let’s talk offense, which most agree Gailey is heavily involved.
There is no system. He does like to run the ball between the tackles with a big back Are you kidding me, a power running game? Georgia Tech isn’t football factory. The power running game couldn’t even work for Auburn last year with two top running backs.
Shouldn’t we use a smarter approach, taking what the defense gives us? Like Teunta’s defense does now, they don’t come straight at the offense. They come from different directions with different people.
Let’s use our smarter players to read the defense and adjust. Does the offense do that now? Hell, we can’t get a play called in time to make a change under center.
Do we get receivers open in space? Not much. Every completion now must be close to perfect, because we only go to the primary receiver.
Of course, it will always come down to QB play for an offense to be successful. I chose to believe RB has the tools to be a good QB? Is the coaching staff helping him become successful?
What’s the plan when the other team comes with a blitz?
Do we have time to change plays under center?
90% percent of the passes are thrown to the primary receiver. How hard is it for the free safety to read RB? With 20+ starts under his belt, what additional tools have the coaches developed for RB, that he didn’t already have?
Read the blitz?
How to avoid the rush?
Run a two-minute offense?
Find a secondary receiver?
Look off the free safety?
Three years in, has Chan developed a single player on his rooster to play QB with the basic tools needed to execute a basic offense? How many years before Chan can find a college QB who happens to be in high school?
Guys, I know you love him, but I just can’t see why.
