Whoa, who the hell was trying to hire him away? They must have been bringing the jet fuel to the table.
 
I don't think the Ok St AA is that worried about having the cash to buy him out, if and when that becomes necessary.
 
I wonder how the buyout is calculated if he is fired. If Oklahoma State is managing risk, then the buyout will be a relatively small amount (say, $1M) by year 5 or so. If they went the Hewitt route, the buyout will forever be $16M if Gundy is fired after the season and $20M if he his fired during the season.
 
FWIW, he has had a pretty darn good run at OK St. No coach has had close to the sustained level of success he has had there.

The auto-renew sucks, but it isn't like they are giving this out after 1 or 2 good seasons.

I think it's the latter, buyout stays high, but increases slowly fwiw.
